I tried a search on this. I searched for "gas smell" and found nothing.


Anyways when I start up my car it smells like gas instantly. I get out of the car and I can smell gasoline. Any ideas? Do I need to change my fuel injectors? Again, sorry if this question was asked which I am sure it has, but search didnt show up anything.

Does it smell like PURE gas or a light hint of it? Cause if it is PURE gas, you might have a gas leakage somewhere, very dangerous, but see if you notice any ab-normal spots on the driveway. If not, then I think there is a leak in the exhaust before the Catalyc convertor.

I think its one of your cats.
It has a bad smell when I first start up when I got a ypipe because it elliminated my pre cats. you might want to check your whole exhaust

 

It's a very light smell. I smell it instantly. I can smell it inside the car too, but this is when I am in the garage for about 10 seconds then I leave the garage. I don't have any gas leaks. My car only has 14,000 miles on it if that helps. If it is my cat how do I fix this? I have warranty.. will it cover?

 

Yeah if you got warranty, get it checked out.

 

Check your Fuel Filter Hoses, I had this same problem and realized that Nissans loosy mechanics didnt tighten the hoses fully

check to max sure ur gas tank is closed tightly. maybe its leaking?

 

Correction. The car smells like smoke. Not gas. It smells like bad smoke. Ideas? Sugestions?

To me it smells like gasoline. My friend said it smells like smoke. If it is a gasoline smell I have no leaks and everything is on correctly. Lets say it is a smoke smell. It doesn't do this with any of my other cars. What's the problem? Come'n...

 

smoke? could it be oil being burned up? does it have the smell after you start the car up after the car is warmed up? might be that on the cold starts, your compression is low and the compression rings are not scraping all the excess oil off the cylendar walls and causing the oil to be burned up.

 

did you try checking your pants???

 

Have you recently had or changed your oil? If so...you may have or your dealer may have spilled a little oil on the manifold or the the engine and is causing a bad smell.

 

the outside of my 2k smells like fart. I have no idea why and am thinking about taking it to the service dept and ask them what is wrong with it. does anyone know what it is??? and is it under warrenty
