chernmax, u have one of the best looking Gen 6s I ever seen... Hell prob the best... haha, I bet u get that all the time... but If you don't mind me asking, how did u get to afford all those mods? Are you well off? or did it just take you time to built up? You prob put at least 20+K in that...

Also, I like the Black on red so much, I think a superman theme would fit it perfect.

Thanks for the feedback and props. As for how I can afford it, well I'm a retired Naval Officer (24 yrs) and now work a really decent government job as a school administrator (top dog) that trains foreign military officers. I also had been saving and when I hit 20K I was going to trade in my Maxima (which is paid off) for an Infiniti M45, instead I decided to give 5Gs to the wife and use the 15K to build the first Turbo Max. IMO more fun (and headache) but I really feel I help achieve what a performance 6th Gen Maxima could be like.

Cost probably would have been in the 20K range but I cut cost by helping or doing the work myself and also since I R&D many of the performance parts, many of the vendors gave me big discounts since I took all the risk.

I guess im a bit old school because i actually like the long boxy look of the second gen and a little bit in the third gen. It look like the designers only used a ruler to draw the entire car aside from the wheel arches. It might not be very aerodynamic but the damn thing could never go any faster then 90mph but i still love it. 260,000 miles on it and im still punching square shaped holes in the air with it.
finally some respect for the 2nd gens lol, definatly agree with you on the ruler thing, ive done 107 in my 85 wagon so its definatley cabable, welcome to the .org

In my eyes:

3rd (well kept and tastefully modded, of course)
5.5
5th (never really liked the "goggle" looking rear tail, though. Should have been more like a Skyline or the I35)
4.5
4th
6.5
6th
7th
2nd
1st

By _.5 I mean the updated bumper/grill in the middle of each generation.

Isn't the 7th gen. bigger still than the 6th? I admit it does look a little nicer than the 6th, but for those of you saying the 6th is a tank, then you can't like the 7th. The 4th and 5th look alright, but they have a live axle as part of their rear suspension, which the 3rd and 6th do not. It's not asthetic, but this tank will probably out handle a 4th or 5th gen.

In my opinion, both the 3rd and 4th are the most clear when it comes to overall design. The 5th and 6th are just a little off. I bought my 6th gen. because it I like the way it drives, and since I'm in my car more than I look at it, my decision was based on the feel of it. By the way, the 6th interior is far superior to any of the other generations.

Sorry, had to get that off the chest
The best way to know that for sure is to run both of the gens at the track with an auto transmission so there is no driver error.

Ive always been here, but im sry the 6th gen is not quicker or as quick as a 5th gen, it just isnt. The autos are whatever they finnally started adding 5th gears when the 6th gen came. but the 6th gen is a good 200-300lbs heavier than the 5th add an extra 150 for the 4th gens, and most of them were barely just barely over 3000lbs stock the rest were under. In a str8 line yea the 6th gen will hold its own against a 4th gen i mean 265hp vs 190hp that 400-500lbs advantage isnt really going to count. throw some corners in the mix, and this is where the 4th gen will has the 6th beat.

as for the 5th gen especially the 3.5s just no. even if Nissan was not lying about the 10 hp difference its not going to make much of any difference really in the outcome. unless u have either a really good driver in the 6th or a terrible driver in the 5.5 the 5.5 will come out on top. lets not get into cornering.

my reasoning is not all about how the car performs going in a straight line, while nissan did do some good thing with the 6th gen, such as bring the IRS back, the design of the car was eyebrow raising but it was catchy(i know some are going to disagree) overall it still was a good car, it has both the 5th and the 4th gen beat as daily drivers. but performance was not a priority when that car was being designed, if it were i bet the 6th gen would be about 100-200lbs lighter than it is now. Even when i bought my I30 from the last owner, he has a 6th gen and is on the org, he said that the 6th gen was faster going straight, but in the corners he much preferred the 4th gen, despite its modified suspension he clearly stated even at the stock level the 4th gen was just a much better handling car. both car are MT btw

So I still stand by my statement

Agreed. I've got a 4th and 6.5, the 4 is no where close to the 6.5.

I don't know where people are getting this from, especially without owning both cars (also, I'm comparing stock).

even in the stillen mag its said that 5th gen VQ35's are the most powerful... 6th gens are nice but 5.5's take the edge by more than .1 .2 sec... srry (though i own the 3.0)

5th gen especially the 5.5 gen voted sexiest by far. nissan really went for a classy yet sporty and conservative look on this one.
