Washing car with hard water?

I live in the mountains and the water is very hard. The problem is that I get horrible water spots on my black paint if I don;t dry it and if I dry it with a towel I get streaks. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

do you remember when i lowered your car......and kirk was washing his maxima....what he used on his car instead of a chamois....its called the "blade"..they work really well....can dry your car off twice as fast if not faster....and no streaks.....you can buy them at auto parts stores.....

I've seen those at Target now

California Water Blade. A little cheaper than the auto parts store. They're real cheap at Costco but only sold seasonally.

My friend's dad has a '67 GTO he shows regularly... the thing is absolutely spotless and he swears by the Water Blade to dry it. If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

Re: Washing car with hard water?

My water is pretty hard too.. I usually have to wash it in the late evening for the best results..

Also you may need to polish or clay your car and/or make sure your using a 100% drying towel.. The streaks usually come from dirt being smeared as you wipe with the towel. I now use the water blade but I still have to use a 100% cotton hand towel to dry the spots the water blade is not effective on..

I used the "shami" too. It works very well. I usually wipe down the car at least twice to get every single ounce out. Just patience.

I use a plain old synthetic Chamois. As long as it's clean, it'll leave absolutely no marks on any surface, even deep black.

Re: Yep

Make sure to dry it in the shade as well....when the water is hard, there is no two ways about it...you just gotta dry it as soon as possible..and the shade slows down the sun drying spot problem.

Your p|ssing is pure water. Use it to clean on your car.

How about drying the car and then using quick detailer to get rid of some of the "after-taste"

use a sham and a water blade, use the real leather, i bought a artificial one and its a POS it has detergent and leaves like soap on my car, dry your car immediately and even wash your car in two or three parts. I wash usually late evening or early morning, but it sucks when the dew gets on the car I wash it, semi dry it, put it in the garage, and fnish it.

I use the blade and use the quick detailer for spots I missed after everything is dry. My max holds water in cracks for hours!

BTW i got my blade at target for $10

hmm ice would be a problem

I hate how the car keeps water in between panels and it dribbles out for hours... the door handles, window insulation and the gas filler door...
