I have a '00 SE MT with 115k miles on it. I purchased the car with 101k on it and got an extended warranty. The SES lite came on last week and it started misfiring and running rough.....I am taking it in to have it repaired at a Nissan dealer.

My question is....would I be able to get the headlights replaced due to cloudiness under warranty? I know it depends on the warranty, but I got a very good warranty package, but it doesnt say anything about headlights under the coverage description. The warranty company is Universal Warranty Corporation and its the Vehicleone coverage, Select Level.

Is anyone familiar with this? Please let me know. Thanks

 

extended warranty only covers mechanical failures. headlights do not fall into that category.
you may be able to get your insurance company to cover them though

 

My gess is no. Those usually only cover engine and tranny. And in most cases only parts of the repair or replacement cost if it's really expensive.

 

I would call and ask, it may cover the housing which is defective

 

Were the lights cloudy when you purchased the car?

I highly doubt any warranty would cover headlights at that mileage.

Uh, no. Thats probably not covered.
Those headlights are easy to clean though. There is a bunch of threads on how to do it. I just did mine with some Brasso and Mothers cleaner wax and they look good as new.

 

Just as the others have said, they're likely not going to be covered. But if you have some rubbing compound or even a basic cleaner wax and a buffer you can remove a good deal of it. The only problem is it comes back over time.

 

Which's why u need to put a protection layer on top after cleaning them. It's like wax is a barrier to protect paint. 3m has something for headlights.
