Found me a new ride - Good deal?

Well, I think I finally decided on the car I want. I was looking at both a 5sp 20th AE and a 2002 6sp. Well, I saw an AE today exactly like the one I've been looking at on the internet and I fell in love. So, if it's still for sale, I'm going to fly up north and drive it home next weekend. Before I do anything, I just wanted to run it by you guys and see if you guys think it's a good deal.

2001 Nissan Maxima SE 20th AE
5sp manual
Grey Lustre w/ black leather
-One owner car
-Fully loaded
-Tinted windows
-Low miles for the year (72,000)
-Clean/clear title in hand
-Complete brake job (1/31/08)
-Catalytic converter replaced(warranty)
-O2 Sensors replaced(warranty)
-Clutch replaced (September)
-ECM replaced (warranty)
-New battery (December)
-Brand new Firestone tires
-Have all service records
-Garage kept
-Few minor scratches and some bug guts baked into the clearcaot...hopefully a wetsand will take care of that.
-3 of the 4 wheels have some minor curb rash, but I can just replace those one by one from ebay or something like that.

I should be able to get the car for for less then $8500. What do you guys think?

i would totally hit it! just clay bar first and i'm sure it'll take most of the nasty bug sh*@ off the coat. o2 replaced which is also good cuz it'll last you for another short while. i think sooner or later u'll get new rims anyways. garage kept + tint = lovely leather. it's definitely a good buy in my book. u'll probably need to replace the MAF soon though which is really no biggie.

I've been looking for a little while and just can't seem to find one cheap enough. This is essentially a 4th vehicle so I don't want to pay anything more than what I budgeted. I'm very very picky about my cars. Sure, I might be able to pick up a higher mileage 2002 with some of the options missing for what I want to pay,but why?

Lol, and to be honest, I don't hold onto cars very long. I'll probably end up selling it next year and getting a newer Maxima anyway. I love working on cars. I buy them, get them close to perfect as possible, drive them for a while and then upgrade.

I'd say the price is a little steep for an 01, I've seen 02-03s going for pretty much that price

Hey, sounds like you found a pretty darn good deal. I got mine last april for a little less than 10 with 69k on the clock. pretty much the same as what you're lookin at. Run a carfax and have it checked out by a local nissan dealer (if possible).

Ok, all you guys that say I can get a fully loaded 5.5 with lows miles and in excellent condition for the same money...let me see some links.

The lady I'm buying it from is being sort of shady so the deal might not happen. I made her an offer, she accpeted..now she tells me there are 2 more people coming to look at the car tomorrow. Um, if you wanted bids, you should have put the car on ebay..not autotrader.

Oh Ok, you car is pretty much the 03 equivilant to what I'm looking at..minus some of the aftermarket parts. You're saying if you sold it right now, I could get it for $8400?

Eh, I would if it was local, but I was planning on flying out to pick it up and drive it home. I'm not too worried about it though. If it doesn't work out..I'll just look for another one. No biggie.

lol trust me it upsets me more than you. I was considering trading my car in last month (I'm talking about wholesale prices-not retail, but a private sale should be somewhere in between) and getting $8500 would not be an easy task..that would also depend on the value of the car you're picking up (for me it was a mazda3- a car with not too much room in the pricing)

Well yeah, wholesale I can belive, but I'm not buying the car wholesale. When I got laid off from Bellsouth a couple years ago, I attempted to sell cars for a little while. I was astounded at how fast the value dropped of certian cars.

not that great of a deal. as it was said above you can buy a 3.5 for that price. it may have a few more miles on it but miles don't kill cars age does.

Well, I had a looonngg talk with the lady selling the car today and it looks like I'm going to be getting it. She made me a super good deal on the car and I can't pass it up. Ever since I first saw an AE, I knew I had to have one so now I'm finally getting my chance.
I fly out 6am Friday morning and with luck, I'll be back home by 10pm with my new baby. I'll be sure to snap a few picks along the way and post up when she is officially mine and living in the garage.

good deal, 5th gen manuals are hard to come by here where I live, (ones that are actually in good shape and not wrecked or beat the hell up) I saw an 04 Maxima SE loaded for 9500 here. the only thing was bad was the mileage (112k)
