I actually removed that ugly Nissan badge on my 5G, i plugged the holes and filled, then used touch up paint. Not perfct but looks much better, the badge burger had to go! I'll try and get a pic up.
I just removed the "Maxima" lettering but left the "SE". Unfortunately, there was some light ghosting from the lettering that even wetsanding can't completely remove. You only see it up close though.

I prefer some badging. People that completely strip their cars of every single logo and symbol look a bit chauchy in my books. Leaving the logo on the front or at least one of the logos on the back IMO looks very clean and very nice.
Leaving the badges there and blacking them out is also a personal favourite.

I don't like the look of de-badged 5th gens. I think 4th gens look a lot better de-badged. Personally I would rather for people to see my car and KNOW what kind of car they are looking at, rather than wonder.
I took off everything but the burger on my 5.5 gen. Looks really sexy. On my 4th gen though, I left the Maxima on there and I love the way it looks. I feel the 4th gen is too plain without any badges.

You shouldn't have to worry too much about that. On my max that ghosting went away after about 6 months or so.Originally Posted by Scottwax

Still there. Did this back in November. Some kind of build-up at the edge of the lettering. Wetsanded it smooth and then buffed it out, still there. Originally Posted by Froggmann

That looks pretty slick man. Is that a charcoal paint color on your max? i got my used, Gold color. Would have enjoyed your color, the dark metalic blue, or black 5th gen better. but oh well....
does any body really buy a maxima for the outside any way ???

hmmm... i thought about it. I may end up shaving the maxima and the 'se' badge. i will deff. keep the burger because i feel like there should always be some detail in the middle. not to mention the two small holes that will remain when it is removed. Plugs...touch up paint.... forget it. you'll always see where the holes were no matter what unless you take it to a body shop and have them proffesionally filled and painted.

Actually the official name of the color is grey lustre. I'll trade you my paint for your 6 speed....Originally Posted by baylormax02

I like the shaved look althought I kept the nissan logo. Removed the Maxima and SE.
The word shaved is i guess used for taking off emblems, i used it more or actually the word with my door handles on my last car. "Shaved" the door handles.
De-badged works...
Scott again loving the car care man!

Did the hamburger but left the maxima because i can see that the ghosting is going to be really bad, i might just take it off and hope for the best, but here's what i've got so far

Unless you fill the holes that are left behind, you have to leave the burger on the 5th gen.Originally Posted by Tippy Toes

I think that any time you debadge something it cleans it up. I used to own a Z32 and swapped the nose panel with a '90 panel and it made a world of difference with no hamburger.

I debaged my old car and the dealership offered less money on trade in because the claimed they didnt know which model, like se or sl, I owned. lol
