How often do you stall out? be honest...

I've owned my 6 speed maxima for about 2 years now, and i still occasionally stall out at traffic lights when i'm rocking to some tunes or just spacing out.

Just curious how often other manual drivers have accidental stalls.

And does any body else apologize to their Maxima afterwards??

"sorry baby, you didn't deserve that!"

I think I went a solid 3 years or so without stalling out. Then again none of my cars had sound systems worth listening too and had rusted out exhausts so I could always hear my engine.

In my max ive had it maybe half a year now and being completely dead honest, I've stalled it twice. Both times I was just completely not paying attention, once had the bose and my subs cranked the other time I was attempting to make a phone call. I hate talking on the phone while driving so bad, I don't even know why I tried.

And yes, I apologize to my baby lol

Sometimes too as I am going to a stop, again if I have the music turned up, sometimes I think I've put it in neutral but im really still in 5th so I catch it at like 300-400RPM's sometimes. Thats happened like 3 times in the period I've owned the car.

I've had my 240sx for over 3 years now and I still occasionally stall once in a while. Usually, it is because I am trying to multi-task and switch gears at the same time. My Maxima on the other hand, is an automatic, so bleh.

i'll have to go with four times in the past year. I taught myself stick so I stalled twice within the first month. The other two occurred when I was going to school, half asleep, and extremely careless/lazy....you know senior year.

does this count the learning curve? lol.. i just learned to drive a stick when i got my 6 speed in december, so i stalled a TAD more than most drivers... but since januaury, i'd have to say about... maybe 3 times... one time towards the beginning, this moron was close behind me, and i rolled back and started, but the light wasnt green yet.. so when he saw me do that, the @$$hole moves CLOSER to me, just to be a vagina... so i stalled that time out of pressure... once making a quick k-turn when my mom was watching me (anyone else mess up more when they're being watched?)... and one other random time with my girl in the car.. so i'd say 2 times within the past like... 6 months

since my 4th gen doesnt have the iacv hooked up at the monent it happens maybe once every 2wks.

but thats more due to the fact that my car normally sits at 600-650rpms and if i turn on the ac im sitting even closer to stalling.

I was doing it quite often after I put in the new tranny. 6 puck clutch with a pedal way out of adjustment tends to cause stalls a lot.

From time to time... never when I'm alone in the car... always if I'm having a conversation with someone, and I'm trying to just move the car a couple of feet forward at a light or in traffic.

I tend to kill my car once or twice a year. This year I killed it in the Arby’s drive through. Right as she handing me the food, I took my food off the clutch. Now that was embarrassing.

Why did you put your food on the clutch? Doesn't it leave BBQ sauce stains?

And where was your foot while all this was happening?

I stalled my car at Tim Hortons last month - Forgot my handbrake was on.

totally unneccessary, but funny none the less. The fast food stall out is the best.

I remember in college this cat was driving a manual saturn car, eating a wendy's burger /fries, and talking on his cell phone. i was like...dude can i help in any way? please don't kill me in the passenger seat

The classic "I'm at 5,000 rpm in 2nd gear because my hands are full and I can't put it into third"

That's why I only play with the radio or try to drink something if I'm in the correct gear at a constant speed

I've never stalled. Ever. The only time I ever got close..

5 years ago, I bought a VERY messed up 300zxtt 5spd. It had a laundry list of things that were wrong with it, including not maintaining an idle, and, I KID YOU NOT, making MAYBE 80rwhp. Yes, 80. Timing chain was off 3 teeth, half the coilpacks were dead, two dead injectors, boost leaks, car was in safety boost, headgaskets blown. Clutch was toast.

I took it inside this shopping center with a very narrow, VERY steep (like 30 degrees) incline. I'm standing on the gas to get up, and then, the car in front of me STOPS. Car behind me is tailgating and stops 3 inches short of my rear bumper.

With a dying clutch, 3500lbs of fat porky Z car, and a sum total of 80 splendiferous horsepower at my disposal, I hoped for the best. I yanked the ebrake up, redlined the car (which summarily decides to back fire and treat the guy behind me to some flames), and dumped the clutch...

BARELY made it out without hitting anyone.

True story.

only owned my max for about 4 months but so far no stalls... i let the revs get pretty low in 5th after coming off the freeway because i thought i had put it into neutral already.

After a couple years of driving stick Id say I only stall about 2-3 times a year and it's usually when i'm trying to back up. (don't know why I can drive just fine going forward but I can't back up lol)
