Is it just me or do most sources seem to deny the existance of the
VQ30DE-K? I search on ebay and car-part.com and go to autozone and they all think I'm crazy .

 

Just go by the year and you will be fine.

 

if you tell them 96 with a DE-k then they will think you crazy. most electronic catalogs do not differentiate between DE and DE-k since the year will differentiate them

 

what does the k mean? if i'm allowed to ask?

The engine was used in the 2000-2001 Nissan Maxima and adds a true dual-runner intake manifold for better high-end performance compared to some earlier Japanese and Middle-East market versions of this engine. and that is what the 00VI and MEVI is. Intake manifolds off the VQ30DE-K

 

The 00VI is off of the DE-K

The MEVI is off of the middle eastern version of the 4th gen w/VQ30DE not the DE-K

and an odd note, I worked at a karate school for 2 years that was named Kaizen lol
