You know I really am starting not to believe that. They honestly don't like them, a lot of people don't. I think the look, feel, and discreetness of the third gen only really appealed to a pretty small percentage of people; it's almost a cult car the way 3rd gen owners are so loyal. I think the third gen has a weird way with how the owners view it's demeanor. I think the car speaks, "Prestige", or, "Poise", or, "Sophistication", to such an extent to the people who have owned them, especially older third gen members who saw the car develop into what was such a classy, sporty, four-door sedan that rivaled that of a 3-series BMW in quality. The car had kind of a dark, but beautiful presence where ever they were since they were fairly uncommon. It seems to me like a very intellectual car for some reason, and everybody who's anybody needed one.

It is meant as a silly statement. I honestly think this thread started with a silly statement. To each there own. Each of us love our cars for different reasons, we each have different things that excite us and drive us and that is what makes this world great. How boring would it be if we all had the exact same tastes? To criticize a certain style or taste as "ugly" is careless and disrespectful. Understand that others do not always share your views, some will but many won't.

Now that's just a sill statement. Owners of 3rd gens could have a [whatever] gen if they really wanted one.

I've got enough cash in the bank to walk into a stealership and pay cash for an '09.. But I like my 3 gen so I keep it.

This arguement is silly. As it has been pointed out we can ALL buy anything we want. It is just a car. If you don't understand the attraction you probably haven't owned one.

Hard to find a nice 93-94 5 speed SE. 15 years old now.

I still think the 3rd gen is the best looking until the 7th gen. 4th gen and the 5th are just hideous to my eyes. 5.5 is ok because of the HID headlights. 6th is a boat.

I like my 03 but I still love my 93 more. Great car.

My point is, how can one be jealous of 3rd gen owners and willingly decide to pay more for another gen? If you want to say lack of availability of clean examples, fine. But I didn't even bother to look for a 3rd gen and I just bought a 5.5. No jealousy here. 2-time 4th gen owner previously as well...

The jealousy-based premise is flawed.
