What do we like about our Maximas???

I like the way the center console in my 4th gen maxima looks, how it gently swoops down and closes into the shifter and cup holders.

I also like way my friends beg to drive the max simply because of it's power and steering. They call it "maxima feel".

Sorry this thread doesn't have pics. I'm new here and don't know how to post posts.

VQ with a JWT intake.
Chirping 2nd gear unintentionally on an original clutch.
First gear being near-useless when the Potenzas are cold.
Leather.
Its appearance from every single angle.
Its anniversary-ness .

That i got a 6speed and people double take and drop their jaw when i tell them.

That they didnt know it had a VQ35 in it.

That they thought the car was black but its really blue.

That it put me through hell but still runs like a bat out of hell.

That I can finally pay 22.50 to fill up on super lol

I really like the fact that I can put almost any stock 5.14 rims on it. I can ride on 15in Mazda3 wheels today or 19in 350Z wheels tomorrow without doing anything special for them to fit.

The new design. I was interested in the 08 model but when I saw the 09 I bought it on the spot. Excellent quality and reliability ratings as well.

looks, crash test

Parked my 09 in front of the library today and it made every other car around it look mediocre, even a red Caddy STS. I never get over the stunning looks of this car. The 5 star crash tests are better than any car in its price class that I have seen.

Had a 6.30 0-60 with some slight wheel hop. Have to seat the rings, right? If not for the flat spot in first gear right after the wheel spin, it would be 6.0 or better. I am betting that improves with breakin. Only have 700 miles on it. Already changed the oil and filter at 600.

MAN, that CVT thing pulls hard after 30 mph. It is weird to see a tach sit on 6200 and never waver.

Man I've got to agree with you on that 09 crash test! The front just folds in neatly as if it was built to crash. Makes beamers and benz's crash test look like crap. About that CVT, I heard it's supposed to adjust to your driving habits so if you're driving gentle or rough, it will adjust. Does that happen to you? Also, how does the exhaust note sound, g35ish?

Not much exhaust sound. Engine sound is subdued but growls a little until WOT and it then roars when opened up. I'm roughing it up enough to break it in but driving very conservatively 80% of the time so the CVT will have some learnin' to do after break in. The manual mode is fun to use but I'm speeding by 4th gear just using about an inch of gas pedal and shifting every 2-3 seconds..

On the road, the car is very quiet. The wipers are silent which is kind of strange after the whipping and flapping of cars I have driven. The nature of the car is a fast, smooth, good handling sedan and the 4DSC thing is wishful thinking. If I wanted pure performance I would get a G35 and do a few mods performance wise.

I like this car for its striking aggressive looks and good all around performance, mileage, etc. It fits an old guy who likes to floor it once in a while.

But I wish nissan would do something about the rear end. I love the front and side of the new maxima, but the back just isn't there IMO.

Coming home today on the north bound part of the highway, noticed a silver 09 with HIDs with what appeared to be a sports package max. I swear, that thing looks like a coupe(at night)cause of the speed it was going, mabye 80-85. It almost looked like a phantom. Anyone else noticed it like that before??

I have one with sport package but I've never seen myself driving it....will have to take some video. The HIDs look incredible on the sport package with the fog lights and the 19" wheels. I love it.

Hmm, quite a bit of things...

How advanced and powerful the VE was for it's day (And today)
Build Quality of the 3rd Gens
IRS
The Variable Timing Cams (When they're not clacking that is )
ABS
VLSD
The fact that 3rd gens are so rare forces the owners with creativity to be original.
Little aftermarket support makes the community a bit more tight-knit and motivated.
Great "Pioneers" on the org with enough passion and will to create high quality products.
The fact I still get looks from all ages (From F150 Owners to M5 Drivers) and a thumbs up gives me satisfaction
Visibility is great out of it, I can always see everything around me because of the low lines and window placement/size, I never have to use mirrors.

Above all - The Howl of THE most under-appreciated engine in the Nissan family still SCREAMING at the top of each gear reverberating off of anything within earshot still at 160k miles and 16 years later.

VE/Maxima Love <3

For it's flaws, I like 90% of my Maxima. I like the styling and the power, and I've even grown to like the color, even though I hated it when I bought it.

I like that it's unassuming yet quick, has plenty of leg room for back seat passengers, and has such beautiful interior styling that I still get compliments on the interior though it's 9 years old.

Everything just felt right the first time I got in it and every time since then. GF still loves it too.
Spacious interior.
Comfortable on daily commutes as well as long trips.
All the controls are big, clear, and simple (unlike the current trend in interiors).
Nice level of creature comforts available.
Good power. Sporty.
Still turns heads.
Gives co-workers the impression that I'm a responsible, sensible grown-up with an intriguing personality (i.e. not a kids car or ego car, but also not boring either).
Trouble free so far (knock on wood).
Active online owners community.

Yeah, that happened when my GF first saw the car and sat inside. Didn't even have to step on the go pedal. I was sold on the car right then and there.

I also like that I've had it for almost for four years and I haven't gotten bored of it yet. My typically lifespan with cars is 1/2-1 year.

I second these. It says a lot of the build quality when there are so many with 250,000+ miles.

I like the unique-ness. Outside of the .org community, you don't see many (if any) modified Maxima's. I remember being at a show and having an elderly woman ask me what kind of car it was. When I told her Maxima she said "I thought so. I have one too". The she commented on how she liked seeing one modified.

And the most important like? It's paid for.

LOVE the interior, and the audio system is GREAT.

also love 5spd.

and the fact that ALL my friends think they can beat me, at the track guesses were in the 18 second range, and i havnt lost a race and ran a 15.2 stock everything asside from some nicer tires and an intake. wooh!

gotta love maximas!
