Has anyone dynoed their car with Y2K muffler vs straight thru muffler

I'm new here, and I did a search but came empty handed.

I would like to know if anyone has dynoed their Maxima with the stock Y2K muffler versus a straigh thru muffler(2.25" or 2.5").

What was the outcome?

Well on a 5th gen there has been no proof that I know that an aftermarket muffler will give more power. The b-pipe is the biggest problem with all the kinks. The 2k1 muffler is excellent IMO and see no need to change it and expecting more power. Get a b-pipe made and keep your stock muffler unless you like to make a lot of noise like Kev?

FreeFlow Muffler = Very Little
R/T Cat = No Difference
B-Pipe = No Difference
Y-Pipe = Improvement over 3000 RPM
All Together = Louder Car

Has anyone performed a dyno run with the Y2K muffler vs a straight through muffler?

For what its worth. The A.E. has the I30 muffler its rated 5hp higher then the regular y2k muffler. Not that the I30 is straight through?

I woundn't expect much if any gain. Seat of the pants you'll feel faster. Kinda like sticking baseball cards in your spokes.

when I get a chance to dyno...we'll all find out

I have a 5th gen muffler on my 97 and had it welded with a flange to make it a direct bolt. I can have the stock muffler back on in 5 minutes. I figure you get 3 runs, so I'll just swap it there.

You mean nobody has done a before and after test to compare the Y2K muffler versus a straight through performance muffler?

This doesn't make any sense.

a dyno run with muffler and then disconnected from the y back. minimal hp gain.

the big deal about the 2k muffler is that it helps low end with the valve to restrict flow at low rpms, open up when needed. This also helps lower noise at low rpms

This is not done to often because dyno runs are expensive!!

Is there a difference between the all the 5th generation Maxima mufflers? How about the 2000-2001 I30's muffler. Do they have different part number?

hp?

if you are running S/C or NOS..... 3 inches of piping sounds good hehe... and u'll notice the gain....but 2 1/2 is good enough for everything without s/c or nos hehe...

Is the Y2K muffler center/center? Center inlet and center outlet.
I know it's center outlet for sure but how about the inlet.

The inlet of the Y2K muffler is it located in the center or is it offset?

The outlet are center located on the muffler body.

Can we take this subject more seriously!

I would like to find out how much someone with his 2K Maxima has dynoed with all the mods except the catback, and someone with all the mods with a HKS or Greddy catback system.

I beleive some dynoed with the muffler and without the muffler on this board, who was that individual and what exactly was the difference?
