White96MaxSE:
I left the OEM sender disconnected completely. I secured the wire so that it isn't dangling around. It seems weird to me that the oil pressure idiot light doesn't come on with it disconnected, but it doesn't. I'm very happy with my setup now, but I wish I had gotten Phantom gauges instead of the Ultra-Lite series and I wish I had an EGT gauge instead of A/F ratio. Oh well, next car I guess.

My oil pressure at idle is around 20psi.
My oil pressure at 5000rpm is about 95psi

Thanks for your help

You know, I originally bought the Ultra-lite series, but I didn't like them as well so I sold them to a buddies son for his car, and bought the Phantom Series to install in the Max. I like them best.

I wish I had 20psi at idle, but I do now have 200,385 miles on the odometer so maybe that is the reason.

Glad that some of my input could help!

If I ever change out my BOSE system (Double-Din) for an Alpine Single DIN Unit then I will have room for three more gauges for a total of six in the center dash area. I thought that would be pretty cool. I don't know if that will ever come to pass, but it would look good.

I sure would like to hear the explanation as to why the oil light on the dash doesn't come on when the wire is disconnected.

I would wonder if the bulb blew out or if it depends on a ground signal from the sender when the oil pressure drops below 12 psi to turn on the light. This seems possible since it isn't grounded right?

The OEM sender will ground itself thus ground the sender wire when it sees less than ~12 psi. When you turn your key to the "ON" position, the idiot oil light should come on. If you disconnect the harness, the wire will never see ground. The light will never come on in any situation.

I see anywhere between 12psi to 20 psi at idle after the car warms up. I hit 100 psi at WOT a few times.
