Re: SURVEY: Post all problems you encounter on your maxima

'98 with < 50,000 miles.

Your usual creaks and small rattles for a mass production car. Besides that, I'm content. And one warranty fix at 32k. EVAP canister.

Lets see- can I say transmission differential bearings? I have a 97 5 speed with 67,000 miles on the clock. I am not the only one with this problem, and with this few miles on the car its very dissapointing. http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

That and a slew of other reasons makes this is the only nissan I'll ever buy in my lifetime.

99se w/ 14k miles

a whole bunch of sensors including the o2 which was replaced under warranttee! i manage to make 3 blow after the cai install. harness melted w/ over wattage bulb and under driver dash caught under fire after improper neon install ( positive wire touched steering wheel bar and grounded itself and melted some plastic causing fire!)
a couple of fuses blown cause of strobe lights. i melted the headlights and leaks cause of too many stobes on my car.
other than that, it takes a kicking and keeps on ticking......

'96: 16,000 miles, a couple dash rattles
'97: 42,000 miles, O2 sensor under warranty
'00: 17,000 miles and counting, ECU reprogram (5 spd)

We've also had a '95 Altima, a '97 PF and our current '00 QX-4. I have nothing but good things to say about Nissan quality. The total number of non-maintenance dealer visits for all 6 vehicles is 3....this is part of the reason I'll continue to buy Nissans.

I've owned my 96 since Feb of 98. EVAP canister valve got stuck, fixed it with a little WB40 and a 12V battery. Passenger window would only go down ~80% of the way. Turned out to be a piece of insulation foam wedging between the track and frame. Simple 5 minute fix. No other problems to report. Nissan lists my car as never having waranty work between it's sold date and Feb of 98. Typical maintenance.

This is by far the best built car I've owned. Prior cars including my wife's:

86 Accord
86 Toyota 4X4
90 CRX Si
94 Altima
94 Z28
97 Altima

Current cars:
98 Legacy GT wagon
96 Max SE 5 speed

1992 MAXIMA with 62K Miles
Problems:
1 Broken Window Regulator, Bumper Faded, Few Cracks in the Leather, Bose Went bad

1996 Maxima with 98K Miles
02 Sensor

Maxima's are good quality cars. Most anything buy Nissan is made to high standards and is good for at least a few 100K Miles.

We also have a 96 Nissan Quest, which has had no problems, a 2001 Exterra which runs great, and 2 Nissan Pickups that just need the regular maintenence.

I had a ton more problems with my 92 Honda Accord:
Funny Noises, Too Slow, Smelled Nasty after going fast, interior fading, paint leaving vehicle, and it wrecked way to easy.
One Sharp Curve + 60Mph + NO ABS + Sorry Suspension = 1 Totaled Accord & 1 lucky driver.

The Honda Cost more too!... gay...

91' GXE - Waterpump, Alternator, CV Boot, Power Steering Hose, 2 broken window regulators, antenna, and one Run in with a cement wall. Been a good 4 year car though for how bad and hard i drive it. Odometer sticks and unsticks for like every 10 miles it sticks 10. And it reads 155k.

92' SE 5spd - Dunno just bought it but it's in excellent condition.
