Where do all the Newer model totaled cars get junked?
Where do all the Newer model totaled cars get junked?
I went to local junkyards in Los angeles like "Pick your Part" and it ranged from 1980's-1994 models.
I see tons of new cars totaled in the highway that was perfect for parts, where do insurance companies send them?

Most of the newer cars you see have collision insurance. In that case, when they are totaled, the ins. co. ownes them. They in turn sell their parts to LKQ junk yards. They are broken down and their parts are inventoried for resale. LKQ = Like Kind Quality or basically a used OEM part. You woun't find them in pick and pull junk yards.
LKQ is pretty much taking over the world.
Not only are they making a killing off new model cars that are totaled (plus selling to the public on eBay for nearly outrageous prices), but they're taking over run of the mill pull-u-part yards all over the country, and of course, subsequently raising prices so high it's only borderline worth it to pull your own parts in 100+ heat.
Of course, I wouldn't mind being on the other end of all that profit

Mine was towed to Copart in Billerica, MA by the Insurance Company. I believe they auction off the cars to salvage lots like LKQ.
