VQ35 in a boat?!?!

Ran into this thread. Some guys built a stainless steel boat from scratch and dropped in a VQ35 from an '05 Maxima.

Wow! That is impressive! One thing that amazed me though, having not seen an LS2 in person is how compact they are in comparison with a VQ!

It would seem that engine is overkill for a boat, but I am impressed nonetheless.

Eh there is no such thing as overkill in any engine IMO. No matter if its in a vette or in a moped. But thats just me

Wow I just finished reading the posting and these guys seriously don't screw around, they fabricate everything! (But I am sure they need to anyway) And they even put rims on a trailer... imagine if they were a Maxima enthusiast I can imagine their car having some crazy home-made hoods and everything! haha

But only a top speed of 60MPH? I think it should at least be 80MPH with our engines, but traction might be an issue... in a ocean.

Really sick project, just wondering why they didnt use one of the rwd VQs since they put out a little more stock power.

I dunno why, but a few things come to mind: easier to find, lower cost, easier mounts, easier ecu engine management. Oh yeah, I tried searching .org about the g4 link they talked about, looks like nobody here's done it. The website looks cool though.

That's not bad for a small boat like that w/ a v6. It's gotta be pretty darn light. My 21' boat (weighs a heckuva lot more, i'm sure) has a 350 chevy and tops out at 49-50mph. There also might be a bit of a difference between using an inboard/outboard and jet nozzle setup.

All in all, I think this is pretty darn cool. It's left hand drive and has a gas pedal!

Jets are good for shallow water, but with a Velvet "V" Drive and Prop it would be more efficient (think racing slicks). prolly get a higher speed yet.
