Arospeed air intake

Do you guys think its possible to fit the Arospeed intake on our Maximas? im gonna be getting an intake soon, and i think this thing is really sweet, but they dont make it for anything besides honda/acura.

Looks like an intercooler. Seriously though, is that just a filter with a pipe connected to the throttle body or MAS? I am sure you can get a custom job done. But damn that is going to attract a hell of a lot of debris. That filter is going to get very dirty very quickly. Is kind of like a different form of the OSCAI, but using a filter.

Don't even think about it unless you want to get laughed at.

dude whatever... that thing looks like it would work better than any other intake, not sucking up hot air or anything from the engine, and itll take in more air than a regular cai. when i start to mod my car, im gonna do what works, not necessarily what looks best.

Why would it work much better? A regular CAI doesn't suck up hot air either. The arospeed won't flow more air than a regular CAI. CAI uses a cone filter, arospeed uses a flat filter. Plus the arospeed is covered in plexiglass to protect it from debris. That's gonna block flow. I would check the cfm ratings on both of those filters to compare. Also, the Arospeed has a lot of piping, much more than a regular CAI. Check with the Honda guys, nobody uses the arospeed either. There are reasons for that. They all use regular CAI's like the AEM or Iceman. For the amount of money you'd have to pay to get the Arospeed to work, it's just not worth it. Come on, it's a $200+ dollar part that you'd have to extensively modify to work. And with all the custom piping you'd have to do, you may end up ruining any power the intake generates. When you start custom making your own piping (which you would have to do) you never know if you'll gain or lose power without serious research. Piping lengths, bends, and diameter all affect flow.

You're not going to get laughed at because of the way it looks, you'll get laughed at because it's just a fake intercooler. It's for people trying to look fast. Probably wouldn't even out-dyno a CAI, and those things are known to read low on a dyno.

I said the exact same thing a few months ago when one of the 3rd gen guys was pushing the idea..........watse of money, but hey you can pretend to have a FMIC so I guess that makes up for the $200, tape a BOV to it and you're all set!

I think that would be more restrictive than free flowing with that big a$$ filter in the way.

I ahve a lot of experience in the performance biz, and flat filters are usually less efficient than a cone filter. The surface area of that panel flat filter is less than most of the small cones I have seen. Even a 5 inch diameter cone is over 15 inches "long".
