Is there a way to make the 5th gens redline?

Does anyone know if there's a mod or something I could take off the 5th gen to allow it to redline since it's an auto. The car's gonna rock (when i get it), but I'm not puttin any decent $$$ into that car if it's not gonna redline. Is there something like the limiter that can be taken out?

You can manually shift it and you'll hit redline, although there is a limiter at 6600. Manually shifting is actually the best way to get all the power out of the car when you're stuck with the ****ty auto tranny. As I learned racing Washington DC Max, it does make a difference and can mean the difference between a win or loss.

My tranny would slip a little, but that was due to the TSB and the fact that the dealer wouldn't pull their head out of their *** and fix the ****ing thing. I have 15,000 miles on the new tranny and manually shift whenever I get myself in a race (which is quite a bit around here) and haven't noticed any problems at all.

I also have the same question as Burton69-does the VB change the shift points at all or does it just shift it quicker?

VB won't adjust shift points....

I have noticed that even basic power mods help to make the tranny shift at slightly higher rpm as compared to stock.

don't want to start any drama, but the UDP seems to help in that respect a bit also

Your tranny isn't slipping when you manually shift. That delay is just the computer. When you slide it into a gear, you are telling the computer to change gears. By sliding the shifter into a different gear, it doesn't actually shift the gears (like a real manual), you only tell the computer what to do. And yes, you can hit redline by "manually shifting", you just have to practice, because of that delay.
