Tradin' it in / Body repair/ Collision..advice! por favor.

I don't speak spanish, sorry.
Anyways, I just crashed my 02 Maxima over the weekend which I was in the process of trying to sell. The Insurance co wrote my body shop a check for $4,029 + I need to put in $100 for the deductable to have it repaired. The car has 121k miles on it, I'm tired of it, Its been nothing but a hassle, there is still a ton of **** that needs to be fixed on it, and I had it up for sale until this unforseen circumstance happened. I just want to get rid of the car. Does it make sense to have it repaired and let my insurance fit the bill for $4,000 if I'm just going to sell it or trade it in the second I get it back? Are there any other options I could pursue...like trade it in with the damage and take the check for $4000 and put it towards a new car? Ugh. Hardly seems worth paying $4000 to fix a car thats worth $4,500 trade in. Any input would help thanks

Haha you could part your car out and then take the check to buy a new car!! I mean you could get a big sum of money for the parts that are good or still work, like transmission, knock sensor, ect.

And that money you make parting out the car + the check = a better Maxima

And then whatever is left you could dump in the junk yard, haha.

$4000 for repair sounds like a realllly bad damage. Consider the high mileage and problems with your car (what specific problem?). Maybe you can part out the car and take those cash towards your new car.

Good luck.

Thumbs up. I'm gonna call the insurance company and ask if they will give me the check instead then sell this thing as is or part it out.

does this REALLY look like 4k to you? seems a bit high on the quote. New bumper cover, 2 new fogs, bumper support bar, some bondo to a very small dent on the hood, new grille. 2 new headlights too but the HIDs work.

bad things with it: Cat converter is rattling to no end whenever I accelerate and motor is under stress. Needs alignment. Loud/high pitched squeeling constantly when driving unless wheel is turned left or brakes are applied, check engine light is on: Needs new vapor canister and purge solenoid. One tail light is cracked. Oil leaking from crankcase. Winter is coming and it has summer tires (lol), and generally I just really loathe this car. No motor/trans problems besides that leak I mentioned but 121k is getting to be high mileage

from looking at it i can see you could fix that yourself, just get a new bumper from a parts car, same with foglights (ones from Nissan are a few hundred), same with the headlights and grille. dent will pop out with a bondo dent remover. all this should cost less than $1000 if you find a parts car

but im guessing theres hidden damage for it to be $4000, with all of the other stuff wrong it might be better to part it out
