Nissan Extends CVT Warranty to 10yr/120K
Nissan Extends CVT Warranty to 10yr/120K
We received an important piece of mail from Nissan Headquarters with regard to my wife's 2008 SER with CVT and we just got it today, 11-20-09.
They have extended the warranty on CVT transmissions to 10 years, 120,000 miles and will reimburse customers who paid for repairs or replacement of a CVT even if they no longer own the car as long as the warranty extension would have covered their car had it been in force sooner.
Nissan CVT Customer Service Center: 888-388-0318
Deadline for submitting Reimbursement Claim Form: July 31, 2010.
Nissan provided a sticker to be applied onto the warranty booklet.
The warranty extension is effective immediately as well as retroactively.
Nissan says they have taken this action to show their confidence in the CVT technology and to show their commitment to stand behind their products.
My wife's CVT has been faultless and impressive in its operation and we had no complaints or communications with Nissan. They have acted on their own.

Nice info glad I stumbled across this thread... for the record the Nissan site itself disclosing this info is here:

This is some interesting news, but I think it sparks up even more questions about the reliability and longevity of CVT transmissions compared to conventional slushbox automatics. Nissan USA have decided to extend its CVT transmission warranty from the existing 5 years or 60,000 miles.
