CAI... Couldn't we do this? ->

I like the idea of the cai but the idea of putting the filter into the fender concerns me. Take a look at this.

What I'm thinking is do same thing but... connect the fresh air pipe to the existing intake down by the battery. Thoughts? It looks odd but if we could come up with a better "paint can"?

ummm...i think you'd get more water in the intake using that method than having the filter in the wheel well. I haven't had any problems at all and I am sure many others haven't had any "water" problems with their CAIs...it looks like too much work for what you're getting out, and besides...the PR CAI looks very nice and clean in the engine bay...

All those modifications will reduce the effectiveness of the CAI. What's the point? Your concerns of water and the CAI are understandable, but once you've installed one, you'll see that its very hard for the max to gulp up water to make the car hydro lock. You'd have to drive your Max like a jeep in the wet amazon jungle to make it happen

Got any pics of that?

hey it looks cool though, I agree wouldn't that be the perfect place for water to get into it??? but it does look interesting, makes for good discussions during meets...and a use for coffe cans other than using it as an exhaust tip

"hey whats that??"....

"uhhhh, its my custom Turbo...yeah thats it"

Is this it?

Do you have the Place Racing Upper Intake tube then make a custom tube for the rest of the intake? Do you get any gains?? It looks like a good idea...
