should i be worried?
ok so i parked my car on a busy street in queens ny (utopia parkway and union turnpike for those who are in ny) for maybe 10 minutes to run inside and grab some pizza.. when i came back i saw my front license plate dangling with one screw intact. so im thinking maybe it was like that but then i went to the back and i found me rear plate under the car behind the rear passenger tire. now knowing what to do i simply put the plates back on and came back home. once i came home i was told by my cousin to go to the precinct in that location. i did that and made a report. now my question is do i need to be worried about what happened? all input will the helpful thanks..
yeah, someone was obviosly trying to steal your plates. If they have a stolen car, they can just steal plates off a car that is the same color, model, ect, and if a cop runs the plates, everything will appear normal.
Check that the back and front plates are still your plates.. either way, the guy didnt finish what he was trying to do.

yeah i guess technically they could have something that takes an imprint of your plate, to copy it later-so they wouldnt have to actualy steal your plate. But idk, i've never heard of something like i mentioned, but it makes sense that they could have something like that. I'd probably get mine changed to a different number if that happened to me and I was paranoid. Good luck man
as everyone said, they tried to steal it, it all depends how you feel on changing your plates, idk if i would do it.
on the other note, I have never seen that screw, where do you get it ihavea2kmaxima

I may look into them. It's just nice to have the added sense of security, regardless of where you live.
Even in an area as safe as the one I live in, things DO still happen.
I use a slightly different solution to keep my plates - it's a tractor pin with a cotter pin, from the outside there is nothing to 'unscrew' and from the inside the tractor pin is short enough to fit behind trim panels, (on my Maxima, I have to actually get behind the bumper cover to install the cotter pins, but no one steals my license plates).
