Help on amplifier!! it turns off??!!! >:(
got pissed at my *****!!! wtf... my stereo sounds horrible! i have a 16-mcd1500 memphis amp brand new... all the reviews say it hits ****in hard or what not... it's retailed at 999.99 and i have it installed to three memphis 10" M1 subs. when it starts to get semi loud the ***** turns off and sounds like it just doesnt have enough juice.. it's hooked up to a capacitor 2.0F. why does it do that? what do i need to change?? anyone with stereo super knowledge help out please...
With amps, there are a million things. I'd check to make sure the grounds are tight and all the wires into the amp are tight. Make sure no hairs between AMP IN orSUB OUT (+/-) are touching.
Common Problems in the 15 or so systems I've done:
Ground the amp and the capacitor in the same spot-each with it's own wire under 18", making sure paint is very well scrapped away. The shorter the grounds the better.
What size fuses are you using-30,40,50 amp? Make sure the positive into the cap and the negative from the cap ground dont cross(if possible). Make sure all the positive and negative wires are as seperate as possible. Are you using 8guage wire at least for positive and negative? 4 Guage is best for a big system.
Does your CD player flicker or anything when the amp cuts out?
Also, your AMP manual should show how to wire up 3 subs. It is very specific, not just running three(+/-) wires from the amp to the 3 speakers. I think they may have to be wired in series if that's how your AMP is supposed to work for three subs.
Hope this helps.

I couldn't have said it better. Also, check that your amp is getting enough ventilation to prevent it from overheating.
holy garbage cans... i checked the wiring those morons did and they had the subs hooked up wrong. i hooked it up in series and now it is sooooo **** loud!!! holy crap they had two in series and the third one was randomly parallel. wtf... stupid people on harbor... it was running at .67 ohms instead of 2.67. holy crap... that's how i ruined my last amp..
well thanks for the help!
