uh, did i make a mistake?

hey all! ok, this is kinda funny: i've ordered a 2k2 max, loaded to the gills with the 6 speed, nav, no other option left out, etc. drove it and loved it. all of a sudden, i see a bunch of posts about ****ty maxima transmissions! is the six speed a different tranny? any input? its a drivers car, and i plan to drive the snot out of it, if youll pardon the expression. or should i?

Maxima tranny's are very good IMO! I have 103K miles on my 95 5spd max and I have pushed that car to the limit daily, the tranny still works perfectly. There are always exeptions to a good product. I have a 6spd max now and yes the tranny is completly different from the 5spd. Don't worry about Nissan reliability, they are one of the very bests, if not they best.

if you are going to do burnouts constantly and drive around on pillows till the bottom of your car is on fire.. then i would say .. yes it is a bad idea..

Agreed....abuse it and it will die sooner. It amazes me that some folks think that their cars should be indestructable just because they dropped 30K on them - last time I checked, M1A1 Abrams still break during hard use, and they go for what, a couple million??

It's OK to drive 'em hard, just make sure you've got $$ in your checking acct to fix the "wear" items.

Enjoy your new ride

P.S.: I'm jealous of your 2K2 loaded 6 spd - the wife tells me I have to live with my 2K 5spd for at least 4 years total......something about getting it paid off and such

Make sure when you take in your wounded Maxima in for repair (and still has Mc Donalds trays strapped on the rear tires for "controlled drifts"), make sure you start the story off with "So we had been drinking...." So that they'll take you a lot more seriously when you start rambling about how crappy Nissan trannies are.

I wonder where you got that from.

Maxima auto tranny isnt the greatest but the 5spd can handle a good beating though. Notice good, not excessive beatings.

Thats when you peal out on a pillow and make a smoke storm. Then drive away with a pillow stuck to the bottom of the car which later cetches on fire.

M1A1 has been phased out for almost 5 years. I guess they were abused too much, but the A2's are much better for burn outs and pillows sticking to your exhaust.

What kind of 60' and 1/4 mile E/T can you get with a M1A2 Abrams?

he he he,

It would probably just through the track...
But it would probably with its 1500 hp from its turbine engine.
BTW that can be switched out in 15 minutes. It only has a price tag 3 mil.
I did some research I did find out that it doesn't exceed 68mph because of the delco speed govenor. It will reach that speed in 14.6 seconds with an empty payload or armor(active or reactive). So I can't answer your question, sorry I never drove them. But I was a flight medic for an armored cavalry regiment, so we did get to see them blow up the desert a lot. The new M1A2SEP is supposed to be lighter so it might do it a little quicker, but a 115mm gun on it. It doesn't matter how fast you can go, your not out running a SABO round even if you are a mile away it'll pin it to ya
