Sound System Problems
99 maxima se w bose sound system. i understand its outdated but wtf lol
I changed the headunit to an alpine and changed the speakers also to alpine. i still have the stock bose speaker amps wired in there and when i crank the volume over 18 it sounds like crap.
do i have to bypass the bose factory amps or something? ( i think theyre restricting these speakers of their potential)
I just want a clear loud system. im not trying to go too crazy with it

Yup... I just did this with my 2k and ran into the same problem. Im running alpine hu and type r speakers. run your speakers off of your own amp. the bose amp is not really compatible with any other speakers. I found a wiring diagram, and just tapped into the factory wires at the bose amp. 1000000000% better

theres like 4 to 6 wires going to the amps if i remember right. can i just use 2 of those wires straight to the speaker or does the bose got something else before that, that will still restrict it
Yea mate, a 4 channel amp will do the job. your pick on the amp(check ebay or pawn shops in your area for good cheap ones) depending on how you want it to sound. well in the 2k there is one sad bose amp under the rear dash, so i was able to tap all the wires i needed right there. Im not sure but yours may have individual sad bose amps for each speaker. If it does have amps at each speaker, then get to the factory amps and just bypass it by powering the speaker with your new amp.

The easiest thing to do is just run new wires from the speaker to the head unit... The factory Bose in Nissan/Infiniti vehicles is not really compatible with aftermarket equipment as demonstrated by the sound quality and to be honest all you are going to do is ruin your new stuff by doing so.
I would recommend running new wires to the radio or even a 4 channel amp if you want even more volume... Good luck with it!

yeah take it to a pro... i blew a kenwood amp ****ing around with the wires. it was new too and it was a sad waste of $200.
Bought a Memphis Audio amp and it is ammmmmaaaaaaazzziiiinnngggggg.

you can use the stock bose wiring. if i remember correctly there are four wires to each. power ground negative and positive speaker connections. use a testlight to identify power, and you can hook the speaker wires behind the radio after identifying the colors. easy enough.
