have any of you guys with the pearl white had any paint problems? My hood has these ****ty spots like something ate into my clearcoat. Anyway, i want to get the hood and front bumpercover painted and all these stupid body shops are quoting me like 8hundred bucks! They say it's cause it's three stage paint. Is this for real, all info appreciated.

yup it sucks.. the general rule is - the lighter the paint color the more coats of it you need ... it might be more than 3 - im not sure though ...

Yeah, it's expensive paint. Mine is still in great condition, though.

It's not the number of coats with the pearl paint, it's

the fact that there are different types of coats put on to give it the deep pearl effect. I believe it is a 3 part paint, something like white, then pearl, then clear coat. It's supposed to be pretty tough to match, so be sure you have a good body shop doing the painting.

Umm, if he quoted you $800, then you're getting ripped! My body shop will paint my hood, fenders, and front bumper for like $450-500, and he gaurantees that it will match, even with pearl! He's also the most expensive that I've found in OKC area. I've had my front end repainted due to my accident, and it matches perfectly! He even has a lifetime warrantee againts peeling and fading! But definetly take it to a body shop that is reputable and preferably has a lifetime warantee on all their work.

As a matter of fact, I'm getting my grill and hood re-painted for free because some of my rock chips made the paint peel a little!

Wow, i still havent had any probs with my paint job but i also wash the damn thing everyweek and wax it too and store it in a garage. Any paint job for our color costs more b/c of clear coats and blah blah blah.
