I got a used re-manufactured alternator for my 98 Maxima. The seller apparently pulled it out of a totaled 97 maxima, but on the alternator is written, in marker, 97 Maxima 24v. Apparently it wasn't a stock Maxima that this got pulled from...?
I'm fixing up my voltage tester to check it out.

24 valve
6 cylinders x 4 valves= 24v
some maximas (3rd gen and older) had 12v vg30e engines. so the seller probably threw that on there, thinking it applied to newer gens.
I can promise it's a 12 volt alty.

Fuses blow from excessive current, not voltage. Overvolt situations will fry things if they are not built to tolerate high voltage or spikes. But don't worry, there is no way it's a 24 volt alternator. It's what Ben said.
