exterior LED lighting

i saw a 2000/2001 acura 3.2 CL the other day and the rear turn signals didn't look like they were regular bulbs that "fade" on and fade off when they blink. i don't know, its kind of hard to explain. i was wondering if these are LED bulbs? has anyone put LEDs on their exterior lights, like their blinkers or tail-lights? how do they look and where can i get them?

Yes I thought about doing the same, and took one side out for check. It looks more difficult than I though so just put it back. Oh I was thinking not using LED bulbs but making my own bulb with LEDs. As for the turn signal bulb I'd guess if LED bulbs have different resistance than the blinking frequency would be different, not sure. If a bi-metal is used for blinking then its on-off frequency would depend on the current through it...

I hooked the tail marker bulb to my blinkers in the back. The corner is an LED and the blinkers are regular bulbs. I know exactly what you're talking about with the slow on/off as opposed to the quick on/off of the LED. I looks kind of gay now since they're out of sync. I was going to get som 1156 LED's to replace the blinker bulbs so they'll turn on/off at the same time. someone else posted where they sell a lot of LED lighting just a little while ago

Here, LED discussion good luck man!

How bright are the blue LED's compared to the stock bulbs? I was thinking of doing this but I remember reading (I think from clee and ny96max) that they didn't seem as bright.

yeah i'm positive i have the same ones... from autodynamic.
big blue leds. I only bought a pair though... so i still need 3 for my cluster.

So far it looks really nice. I personally find them bright enough to look at. Only a tad darker than white. but almost the same brightness.
