PIAA headlights suck!

I replaced my OEM headlights with a PIAA Super Plasma bulbs only 8 months ago and they're already done. Is this normal? Such a short lifespan.... I don't want to spend $90-100 on bulbs every year. This is the second time this happened.

I had the same problem too! They suck! If you kept your receipt the shop has to replace them under warranty for up to one year!

K-Mart doesn't carry any H-series lamp. The H4 Blue Visions are E-code only, so you have to go "across the pond" to order them. Furthermore, the Phillips VisionPlus bulbs are even better and are available in H4s, too bad 900x lights aren't available in this line:

But do the "VisionPlus" bulbs have a "whiter" color to them like the BlueVision bulbs? Which would you go with?

Don't touch the lenses.
I've had my piaa superwhites for about 1 1/2 years and they still work great.

If you read the link, you would see that the VisionPlus bulbs have a higher lumens output. Thus, they are brighter than the Blue Visions. Frankly, they theoretically kick the butt of the Blue Visions.

As the title of that link says, for H4s the VisionPlus bulbs are the best damn $30 you'll ever spend. Then you can make fun of the PIAA lemmings who spent $60 or more......

bill99gxe,

Sorry, didn't read your link before I posted (obvisouly). I read a bit more into these Philip's bulbs, they seem like a great solution when compared to the PIAA brand of bulbs, especially for the price!

I ordered a pair from www.powerbulbs.com after reading your opinion of them and that review of all those bulbs. Can't beat the price.
And to be honest, I don't think my PIAA Super Plasma's put out enough light, plus the beam pattern sucks. Only thing redeeming about them is the color, and even that isn't for everyone. I guess if I really want that bright-blueish looking color that actually puts a lot of light on the pavement then I'll have to fork over $500 or $600 dollars for one of yo_its_ok's HID kits Thanks for the info.

Dont touch the bulb!!! That is probably why they went out so soon. I've got the superwhite PIAA headlight and foglight bulbs for almost 2 years with no problems. PIAA's warranty is one year over the counter exchange. Exchange them for new ones!!!

I have a question. Has anyone tried these bulbs head to head with the stock bulbs? I remember seeing a website that oem bulbs are the best, the rest of them just look better, but do not perform as well as oem. I tried this myself and I got a better light spread with the oem's, anyone else?

my ex gf went through 2 sets of the piaa super plasma's. I've never had any problem w/ my piaa super whites. Maybe it's a flaw w/ that bulb? I got her those bulbs, b/c she likes the color of them.

Too bad this test didn't use some real aftermarket bulbs from Phillips.

OEM owns. Then again, 5 dollar regular old Phillips bulbs own too. Why do people insist on buying 'hyperwhite' bulbs BTW? I never got it...

medic,

For me it is because the Blue Visions have a significantly higher lumens output than the stock Phillips bulb. Also, my visibility has improved. Other than that, my bulbs just look nice and white. If I want bright lights, then it's time for a vehicle with HIDs......

That refers to HID, we're talking halogen bulbs here.
