Question to ppl with allum. Dash Kit

Is there any problems removing the dash while having an alluminum dash kit? any problems like having the alluminum warp when I take the center console out to replace the cd deck? thanks.

The aluminum will bend if you push on it or anthing, when I took my radio out I messed the kit up. I am going with syntecic aluminum on my next dash kit, I think it looks better too.

You might do a search because i remember a thread where a guy took it off without warping it. He used floss or something.

I know what you mean but my question was if it will be ok to remove the whole dash with the kit on it(not the dash kit itself) as in taking the dash apart to get to the head unit.

That should be fine. I do it all the time, just be careful.

thanks shadow. BTW I was wondering about if you can make something for the air vents that are under the windshield? the 2 little small ones above the side vents and the 2 really long ones thats on the top and also one for the side mirror adjustment switch. I just think that it would look more complete to me. thanks

We are considering the 2 side vents, I'm not so sure about the long defroster ones on the windshield though. And your kit didn't come with a side mirror adjustment switch? This is the switch to the left and below your steering wheel correct? The little ****? Is your kit the one I sell? If so, then it should have been included.

hehe. I dont have the dash kit yet so I wasnt aware it came with it sorry. Your dash kit is next on my "to get" list and was just thinking about how much better it would look with all the vents covered. thanks for looking into it.

I had the same thing happen. I was taking my headunit out and it was caught on the dashkit for some reason. When I got impatient with it, I pulled the clear stuff away from the aluminum. It's only nticeable if the light catches it right or if you're really looking for it. I have the Alka-Plus kit. I get a lot of compliments on it. I would like to see a real aluminum kit so I can see the difference.

have a Joshua tree real aluminum kit in my 3rd gen.. no problems removing stuff here.. in fact, it wasn't even originally installed in this car.
I had to leave a few pieces behind, but the car still looks fine without them. I've made a few more pieces for the gauge bezel and shifter cover and some other stuff like that.. really fills in the rest of the dash that way.
