Low Idle & CEL Light on from Apexi RSM?

I just installed my Apexi Rev/Speed Meter yesterday and decided to test it out. After a full day of driving, the idle in "D" at a stop light, i noticed the rpms dropped to about 500rpms. It still idled smooth but i wasnt fond of the low rpms.

After my last top speed run, my CEL light popped on. I was very puzzled. I think it might hav esomething to do with the RSM since it removed my limiter. I iwll have the code pulled today after class.

Also, the RSM doesnt retain memory? I tapped the wires like i should but everytime i shut it off, it takes an extra 5 seconds for it shut off. Everytime i start the car, i must reprogram it.

Any ideas?

Oh yea, the RSM def did remove my limiter. I did two top end runs. The 2ns top run i actually walked a old RX-7. It was prolly NA but it had a loud exhaust and it backfired when he shifted. Anyways, i stayed even with him at 90mph and started walkin hom from there. At 130mph i had roughly 3-4 cars on him. He got spanked by an auto w/ NO NOS and two fat kids.

Hmmmmm...... I installed mine last Friday and I haven't run into any problems yet. There were no 5th gen instructions, so I had to look at the ESM for the correct wires to splice into.

Maybe you should check your FSM to see if the pins are the correct ones.

Did you get the G-sensor too?

it does retain memory. that's insured by the constant power wire aside from the ignition 12v wire. apexi stuff stays on for a few seconds after you turn off the car, ie s-afc, rsm. when you get online later, tell me exactly which wires you tapped into for power.

LEt me tell ya. I went the Doogie route and it is bad azz for a free mod since I had a spare switch and wire. Although it looks nowhere near as cool as the Apexi Unit...

I know when the CEL light is on, the car should be running in "safe" mode. It will stay that way until reset. THe car shouldnt have any difference in performance though.

Thomas-I used the writing from you on teh manual. I htink the constant is wrong and might be causing the low idle problem. I figured it wasnt suppose to loose memory. Did your CEL light ever come on when you did 150? It popped on after i hit 130mph racing the rx-7.

The ECU code was P0500 which is for speed sensor (b/c i was doing 130). I used my friends scanner and also resetted it. People around me charge $70 to pull codes! Thank god im good friends with him and i get to use all his tools & shop for free.

That's not normal. All lights that need immediate attention in a car are always red. Hmmm....

Yes it does Stynki.

FSM + research = no CEL

Double check to make sure.

I believe your power pin is in the upper right corner of your ECU (at least that's what I remember seeing for the A32).
