HD Transgo Shift Kit pics contents/instructions and review
You mentioned upshifts in the review, what about downshifts? After the shift kit was installed, does your transmission downshift to 1st gear if you floor it while in 2nd?
For me, the inability of the transmission to downshift 2-1 is the killer. It just seems to bog until about 3.5k rpms when the car decides to actually do something.

to answer your question eatfly - it honestly depends on the speed you're at...you just kind of have to learn your transmission...
if you have your rev limit extended to say 7k, then downshifting at 35 wouldnt be bad, however if you dont then downshifting around 29-30 is where it does it automatically. you CAN downshift manually at 35, but you get to your rev limiter so quickly its not useful...i hope this helps

My car only seems to downshift to 1 when I'm slowing down to a stop, but not when I want to take off from a slow speed. I understand what you mean about hitting the rev limiter but the AT gears are so tall.
Say I wanted to take off from 20-ish, the car just bogs slowly in second gear until like 3500-ish rpm (kinda like turbo lag?).
I read elsewhere that the car is more willing to do the 2-1 downshift when taking off and wanted to hear your take on it.
Maybe my car is just weird.

If i leave it in "D" and perform a kick down under 30mph it quickly shifts and sometimes chirps the tires pretty well. If above 30mph then it stays in second gear.
Now I can manually switch it to 1st around say 32mph if for some reason I want to quickly downshift and have instant power.

Some swear by the HD2. However, After driving for several months, all I can say is that it's been consistent. The shifts are great, sure, but the 1-2 shift is WAY harsh...so much so it's almost like being smacked in the face at partial throttle.
Slight throttle and heavy throttle, it shifts smooth as butter, but at partial throttle where you are not really trying to push the car, but definately have some power going down, the car will smack during the 1-2 shift. I have to anticipate the shift at mid-throttle so I can let off the gas so to keep from breaking my neck or that of my kids.
For a daily driver with kids, I regret getting the HD2. 1-2 is TOO harsh accelerating at mid-throttle.

Missing Piece
After installing the Transgo shift kit and assembling the VB there's one piece I couldn't install. It's a tiny bracket that mounts with a bolt somewhere on the VB. Doing this over a several day period I couldn't remember where it went. 
It's this tiny bracket with a bolt going thru it in the bottom left corner of this picture:

This is an RE4F04B from my 02.
I had someone install a HD2 kit into my 2002 maxima..
My fuel economy actually went up a lot... I think it's because it's easier to keep the rpm under 2000
the 1-2 shift is definitely odd but with ES front/rear engine mounts it's not that bad... Only issue is the front/rear engine mounts being changed caused my glove box to vibrate like crazzyyyyyyyyyy (on idle) very annoying.

You can install a transgo shift kit in your valve body if your infiniti i30 has one of these ATs
