2012 Maxima (no navi pkg) no USB connect to phone

I have a 2012 Maxima without the Navigation package. Just purchased a smart phone, Samsung Galaxy III and when I connect to USB I get a "no device recognized" .

My uncle connect his Iphone and we get the same issue. When I connect my USB thumb drive with all my music, it is recognized and plays fine.

I tried phone settings as described in other post, such as setting the USB mode on the phone to MTP on position and this did not help. Any help is appreciated.

I was successful connecting Bluetooth with my phone . Is its functionality to make and receive calls only? It can't see an option to stream music via phone.

I hear of a MirrorLink system to standardize Android phone use the car. Not to sure this would even would work with my cars receiver.

Thanks
CC

If you haven't already I'd post this in the 7th generation forum

I don't have Navi on my 2013 but I do have the monitor package , I have yet to try to hook anything up to the AUX connection, still enjoying XM.

rented a 13 Altima without nav over Thanksgiving and connected just fine to bluetooth audio as well as phone.

Go into the bluetooth menu, long-press the connection with the car, you slhould have an "options" or "services" choice. Click that, then it should say "phone audio" or "phone and media audio"...check "phone and media audio"

Your version of android may be different than mine (running ICS on galaxy s2) but the idea is the same.
