Opinion on tint

Just wanted everyone's opinion on this. I finally decided that I wanted to get some tints for my ride. WA state law says that the legal limit for tint is 35%. I'm leaning towards getting them 30% (shouldn't really be any difference) or 25% tint. Has any of you with tint darker than the legal limit ever get into problems with cops?

Also, I found two shops that I wanna do business with. One shop is charging 189 for some Madico tint and the other is charging 430 for some F1 Pinnacle. I've read good things about both tints but never had them on my car. Was wondering if anyone here has had either film on their rides and the experience that they had with them.

Anyways, both shops offer a lifetime warranty as well. Not to sure about how easy the process is going to be if I ever ran into an issue but it's something that eases my mind in this decision.

Any help would be appreciated.

Im in GA and the legal tint limit is 32%. I have 30% tint and it is very obvious it is legal. There are times when the light hits it right whether Im riding down the road or just parked in a lot and it looks like I have no tint. Having darker tint on a newer car is usually what can get you pulled over.

I am not happy with the legal tint on mine but it gives one less reason to be pulled over. As to the brands you have mentioned, tint is the one area where I have not heard anyone saying what brand they have or not. I have just heard that a metallic tint has metal flake in it which can affect your cell phone signal and make calls easier to drop in tunnels. under bridges, etc. but dont quote me on that lol. My advice is for you to go to which shop you feel more comfortable with, however, that is a huge price difference

Hope that helps you out a bit.

Thanks a lot for the help man and yeah. I've barely read anything that has someone stating what brand tint they got which makes it hard to decide. Definitely wanna go with a ceramic tint like F1 Pinnacle but I totally agree. The cost is just crazy but it is supposed to be on the higher end of tint brands.

Don't really wanna get pulled over for tint but if it's barely noticeable then there's really no point in me getting tints since I already have factory smoked windows. I still MIGHT just get 25% but I guess, I'll take some time to think about it because I don't wanna pay to have it removed.

Im in Ga as well, and I went with legal (38%) on the sides and illegal on the back (18%) and haven't had a problem. I didn't want to make it too obvious and do illegal all around the car. It is alot of money to throw away if you get a "fix it" ticket though.

15% here, legal is 35%. Have been pulled over 3 times, but my tint is exempt. I can paint my windows black legally

Yea I have ceramic tint and that is supposedly the best tint to use these days. I was not quoted anywhere near that price to get ceramic done though. Try to see if that cheaper shop can price ceramic tint for you.

Wondering if your price is also for removing old tint? I had my old tint removed and new tint installed in 3 hours for $220. Lifetime Warranty against fading

Actually got the break I was looking for. They changed the tint law in 2011 to 24%. So, I'm going to go with 20% which is barely darker than that. Wanted 25% but I only found one shop that carried that shade.

That's what I heard too. Found a shop that quoted me $265 for some Llumar tint and so, I'm just going to go with them since the shop I was talking about only offered Madico tint which is the best they have.

Might as well pay 76 dollars more for some high end tint you know. I'm relieved as hell to have heard that they changed the tint law.

Nope, it was only for install but you got a great price man.

Read some real good stuff about Suntek. From what I read it looks identical to Llumar tint.

That looks GOOD man, I wanted 25% myself but the only shop that has it has had some REAL bad reviews and only offer mid-level tint.

That would be nice if you could since summer is coming up but, yeah, I only found ONE shop that offered 25% but I heard some bad stuff about them. So, it's kind of rare around here too. All the other shops I checked only offered 50, 35, 20, 15, and 5. Which kind of sucks because I already have factory smoked windows and if they offered 30 then it'll pretty much be 25 when it's said and done.

But, I agree with you though. 20% does look good as hell and I want to get it but even it being 4% lower than legal. I might get hassled about it, still thinking about getting it though LOL.

I have 15% on the front and 5% on the back...legal limit for NY was 35% now apparently its 75% [pack of BS]...needless to say I have to go to the DMV tomorrow to pay my ticket before they suspend my license SMH

In its defense i prefer to keep my tint because i really dont want anybody being able to see in my car when walking by since i park on the street...also in the 3 times i have been pulled over for it i got 1 ticket...i just told the other 2 that i got pulled over and spoken to about it a few days before and im in the process of removing it....seems to work so far

Damn, sorry to hear about that man. That is some BS and why did they increase it to 75%? 35% is already light enough, it's like barely any tint at all with that shade. I agree with everything your saying about tint though. It does deter people from trying to steal your ride and privacy too. Really don't understand the laws of this country sometimes. I bet the cops still get to use dark tint still. Don't see why it doesn't apply to them.

I'm hoping that I won't have to go through the same thing. I really wanna get 25% tint since they changed the tint law over here from 35-24% but barely any shop around here carries that and the ones that do have some bad reputation on their work. Even 30% is kind of rare. Which would be perfect too since I got factory smoked windows.

Mine has 15% all around. Florida's tint laws are 28% front, 15% rear. Got pulled once for it, by a rookie cop fresh out of the academy and it was at night on top of that. He literally seemed to appear out of nowhere when he pulled up behind me and flipped his lights on. So, got busted for the front windows being too dark. I have friends that have been driving around for years with 5% limo tint and haven't had a single problem with police.

Probably has more to do with how you drive than the tint, Unless the leo is being a real **** that day.

I know people with 5% limo all around, never been touched.

Truely is luck of the draw
