Opinions on Bulb Types
I have been wanting new bulbs for my fog lights. I drive around with the fog rewire so want them to roughly match my parking lights which have some 5 SMD 5050 LEDs in them. (color around 6k?)
I've been considering getting the H3 5050 bulbs wich have 13 SMDs on them but just know they wont put out very much usable light. Anybody use or see these?
And then theres the blue coated halogen bulbs. I know housecor used Super Plasmas and got a pretty good result but those are expensive and wouldnt the $3 ebay bulbs work the exact same? Whos running ebay bulbs or brand name ones?
Finally theres the HID option. Some of you may not even consider this an option at all because the housing is not made for them but now that hid kits are fairly cheap its starting to bounce around in my mind.
Using stock 2003 fog housings if it makes any difference

I've used and tried those H3 LED Fogs, they are worthless. Your best option is HID. The 2003 Fog lens are glass, so they will resist better than plastic lens. I have Philips Ultinon 6K D2R bulbs and matching H3 Fogs. Best combination IMO, if you have stock D2Rs your better off getting a 4.3K HID Fog kit to match.
two questions.
Thanks for the suggestion. Did you aim your fogs down at all? My fogs are already cracked from previous owner and surprisingly they dont bother me too much at the moment so i wont have to worry about heat issues for now. I recently bought new 5K bulbs for my headlights and you could notice that the Phillips 4.3k from the factory had faded to near 6k.
How much did those Phillips bulbs for your headlights end up costing you? The bulbs i bought were 10 bucks but look 90% identical but the Phillips bulbs. The only difference is slightly (1mm) wider metallic strips on the Phillips bulb and Phillips has a slightly larger "bubble" for the electric arc. the 5.5gen headlight scatters an extra ray of light without that wide strip. Ill get some pics of that tonight.
I have been shopping around and people say DDM slim kits are the best way to go.

My fogs were aimed spread out, that's until I lowered the car, I never readjusted them, only the headlights. My Philips cost $130 for the headlights and $75 ea fog light. So yea, a lot $ but well worth it. I also had the same Philips in 5K before, but it just got to boring with pure white even though the output was great.
