Well I finally got my car back, after a month and a half its in my posession again with a rebuilt tranny and a fresh paint job.
I had it for exactly one day last night, and as im driving to the pool hall with the g/f and a friend from Cali, i come up next to a 5.0 stang with 3 teenager guys in it. Now after 6 weeks I am so excited to have my car that I dont resist the pleading from the g/f to race them at all.

so we get in front of the traffic and start revving and when the light goes green I just drop the clutch and light up the tires... he gets a couple cars ahead of me before I hook and try to reel him in, but we hit another light. At this poing I am more prepared, and get a good launch and take him by about a carlength to 90, when we have to slow for a limo thats lollygaging around. well we get around the limo and get on it again, he is a couple cars ahead when we hit it, and I start to reel him in big time, but then we pass by a High school, and of course htere are two cops parked there ya[ppin at each other.

Now the 5.0 had at least an exhaust on it, and my car is quite loud as well, so of course they hear it and see us lay on the brakes. the standg goes ahead of me and the first cop pulls out of the school, and hits the lights and goes after the stang, who then takes off around a corner. the second cop hasnt come out yet so I take it easy and head into a shopping center, but he just comes over a hill as im about to turn, and follows me in.

So he gets me for "speed racing" and a $295 fine. Oh well, another couple trips to court and a trial reschedule and I hope he doesnt show. it was a good race though, made me happy to take the stang, even if it cost me.

consider yourself lucky. if you did that in illinois your license would be revoked by now and you'd prob. be sitting in jail getting to know your new cellmate. i say you make your GF pay half. or at least have her make it up to you...

Yeah, that's a 1000 dollar fine in Illinios. That's why we do it outside of town at our "secret quarter mile". Whenever someone wants to race, we all head out to "the quarter". It's funny.
