WHEN IS THE NEW GEN MAXIMA SUPPOSE TO COME OUT AND WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ON IT?
@ DrewSER. On a fwd car, why does the manual trans matter? u can't drift. a stall converter launches better than any clutch. a dyno proves pens size. it has little bearing on how fast the car is.
drive a new g with a trans kit, race a 6mT car, profit.
drive a new g with a trans kit, race a 6mT car, profit.
Since when is a manual transmission all about drifting? It's more efficient by ~10% (side note; FWD more efficient than RWD) which translates into more power going to the wheels. If HP doesn't matter to you you mine as well stop modding, sell your car, and buy a Prius. You'll be happy cause they're only automatics as well.
I won't argue what a slush box can do at the strip but unless you're building your car FOR the strip it doesn't matter. I'm a road course guy not a strip guy and these cars are built FOR the road. Everything I do to my car is done with the tail of the dragon in mind, where launching is irrelevant. Where the speed of your downshift is also irrelevant because you're barreling into the next corner already in the correct gear for the exit. Where you'll appreciate the added power being put to the road.
Clearly everyone has a preference but obviously in my mind it's MT FTW.

I would love to see rwd... they made it back in the 80s why not again lol but i think we know that'll probably never happen
Oh but they need to stop installing huge stock p.o.s. radio/ navi systems that you cant replace with after market radios because pioneer navis are in my opinion are 1,000X better, and Im sure a lot of you.feel.that you like an aftermarket unit better than stock. But the radio is my only real complaint.

So just because you think nobody else is doing it you shouldn't make a car better? Ridiculous! Never mind the fact that you left out the Legacy (only AWD) and the Taurus (option). The Accord even has a 4wd option in Japan and I'm sure everyone remembers the AWD Mazdaspeed 6.
This isnt japan guy. Are u serious? LoL Once you have an AWD Taurus its no longer in its segment. Its like comparing a 4cyl camry. The only one I have a problem with and always had one its the Legacy. Its your only argument and I didnt leave it out hence when I wrote etc.
Making it better then your luxury brand and the current competition is fkn stupid! Plain and simple dude!

Just because AWD is an option on the Taurus doesn't mean it gets pushed out of the Max's class. In fact that's the whole point of my argument. Ford (and your etc Subaru) offers something that Nissan doesn't. It would be one thing if it were pink seal skin seats but it's something that people actually look for and want.
By all means argue that, I'll enjoy laughing.
So what are you trying to say? that automakers should only make cars just as good as their competition? That's "fkn" stupid. Maybe you pick out your cars by how pretty they are on the lot but most of us compare what the car really offers. You continue to make ridiculous statements and back it up with horrible examples. How in the world does adding AWD to the Max as an option make it better than the G37X?! The G will always be a much nicer car than the Max and that's what you pay for. Refinement.

With that comment I know its no longer worth even going on with you at all. 99.9% of ppl car shopping look for the exterior appeal. LoL And with everything you typed you still had nothing to say? wtf! oh and please google AWD taurus its not in its segment! I need someone else to have a proper conversation with someone HELP ME!!!! lol
Obviously looks of the car matter but if it looks amazing but is unreliable, underpowered, or doesn't offer the options you want do you still buy it? Maybe you do.
I keep bringing up genuine points and all you do is keep repeating yourself. Who has nothing to say? It's cool though cause I think you're hilarious.
As stated before this thread has gone downhill!
Believe it or not, there is a possibility the Max would have another option than FWD, even though I definitely wouldn't hold my breath. It would probably take Infiniti dropping one of the G platforms. Unlikely, but possible.
manual on FWD has pretty much all of the advantages of a manual RWD. besides manuals being less susceptible to heat damage, having less drivetrain power loss, and less moving components to get damaged there were alot of times in my 3rd gen auto where it would downshift when i knew it didnt have to or it would upshift when it wasnt necessary. manuals you can control it better than a computer can
- 3.7L Engine. HR Series. OR VQ35DET(T)
- Some major weight reduction.
- Coupe as an OPTION. Altima fans shouldn't get all the fun

- Transmission? Don't care. MT, AT, CVT, have their advantages and disadvantages; none are perfect. But MT should be an option.

Ur still missing my point. Cars are built for a purpose. Y buy a fwd car for anything but spirited street driving (onramp merges) and roll races. Most fwd cars get dangerous and inefficient over 350hp. Especially on the street.
Y would Nissan build a plane for air, a boat for water, and then make a spaceship for trips to the grocery store.
U wanna go fast, buy rwd coupe. U wanna mod something? Buy cheap cars with a good platform. If you want looks, buy something pretty. But don't make a maxima more than it is. The nicest fwd sports sedan in its price range and performance bracket. Good luck pushing a new Taurus past 300k, but at least they offer a SHO package.

biggest thing is RWD is cheaper to make and easier to work on. thats why fleets like taxis, police, etc try to get RWD as much as possible. easy to remove the tranny and whatnot, versus on some FWD cars having to remove the exhaust and other stuff
I agree with chrome91 but it's kinda irrelevant to this thread.
And AWD isn't what people are making it to be, it won't be anything akin to an Evo or Sti where all 4 wheels are getting power. AWD is an option for when you break traction on the main drive wheels (FWD) and the rear wheels engage to help straighten the car out. This option is more of a safety feature then anything which is why I'm pretty surprised it isn't on the maxima yet.
This car is being sold new at 31k$ for a base model, pretty ****ing retarded. The cars that where listed as being in the same class as it were significantly cheaper according to the dealer websites. For me a change like AWD is long overdue for this car, I'd really like to know whats the reason for the price bump of several thousand dollars from similar cars is for

You say it's pointless to make a FWD car with 350hp,have you ever tried driving a car with the same power in snow??? It's dangerous as hell but they still build it and ppl still drive it. Everyone knows that powerful RWD cars in the winter is a risky move that's why most drivers park them in the winter.
So instead of making this thread a debate just give your opinion on "what you'd like the see in the next generation" If you have nothing to contribute the thread isn't for you

Happy new years everyone
I doubt nissan will do a RWD or AWD as that now takes the car out the class of competition I believe, a turbo optio would be cool I guess but unlikely...... they need to engineer a 3.7 FWD (so we can all start swapping
) but most of ll to be honest, they need to bring back a 6MT option ifthey really wana go for a "sport sedan" feel, let's face it, 7th gens feel more luxury than sporty..... IJS

Now the thread seems to be back on track. So far members said they would like the see, weight reduction,AWD,6spd manual transmission come back, different design of headlights, turbo, different body style, coupe, more power,3.7liter engine and a nismo or sport package as an option.
Keep the ideas coming in guys.Maybe nissan might take some of the ideas

I would definitely like to see an AWD version. Definitely would like to see the return of the six speed too. My next car after my 99 was going to be a six speed 6th gen. If not I'm probably going to go audi. At least they are still making manual transmissions.
Let's make SE a true sports sedan by offering Nismo package and a different look to that of the GLE. Make GLE in to a pure luxury model. Maybe I am reaching here! lol
I was recently at the Dealership and saw a Special Edition 2012. It looked nice. Smoked head/tail lights and flashy rims, but i don't beleive ther ewhere any performance bumps.
As for the new gen... I would like to see them Make an SER maxima...With stiffer suspension bigger brakes. But who reallly knows.

But when they are running, damn good car. Not quite sure what direction to go after this. But I don't see that happening for a few years anyway.
That's what i'm saying.Maxima are good performance cars, great price range, strong and reliable, and it's one of the few sedans that has 6spd manual transmission. As benjie said,if the newer maxima's don't come with the 6spd manual transmission I won't even consider buying it.
I just got to use to driving maunal cars and if they can't make it and "option" they will loose another nissan lover.I loved these cars since I was about 19 and when I found the 6spd it was like heaven.
Manual cars are my prefference.Drove my mom automatic yaris and I caught myself feeling for the pedal and trying to gear down
It felt like I was having a bad dream until I got back in the beast
I Don't Believe There Would Ever Be A 2 Door Maxima Because That Would Defeat The Purpose Of It Being A "4DSC". Maximas Are Simply Turning Into Big Luxury Boats & Altimas Are The New Maximas, Hence The Optional 6 Speed In Them And Availability Of Coupes
Nissan is taking the footstep of Toyota, Maxima is pretty darn close to being an Avalon. Than making the Altima to the sporty car. I agree that Nismo package should be available to Maximas but they need to go back to Nissan roots to making the Maxima THE 4DSC.

That's why it's simply a "dicussion" to see what would keep you from turning to another car maker to get something nissan isn't or won't provide you with
I'm sorry but this is the dumbest statement I've read in a long time. So you're saying there's no disadvantage except for the tool that proves the disadvantage?! Speechless...
