WHEN IS THE NEW GEN MAXIMA SUPPOSE TO COME OUT AND WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ON IT?
i do agree that the altima's have taken over in place of the maxima's, maybe thats nissan's main ultimatum... with the avalon n genesis being its compertitions i guess there was no need for a 6MT, but the altima competes with the accord, which does have that option.... the 8th gen should at least be 300hp VQ35HR... idk about the AWD option because of the class n competition its in... but if nismo listen to any of us (which they didnt the last go around... please make sure they get this memo
* 6MT option
* VQ35HR or VQ37HR
In all honesty the reason i dont want the SER or spec V option is because with the maxima its always the one option, you like you buy... nobody gets cheated out of performance... i love that, same as the avalon....

Nissan is taking the footstep of Toyota, Maxima is pretty darn close to being an Avalon. Than making the Altima to the sporty car. I agree that Nismo package should be available to Maximas but they need to go back to Nissan roots to making the Maxima THE 4DSC.
Let's make SE a true sports sedan by offering Nismo package and a different look to that of the GLE. Make GLE in to a pure luxury model. Maybe I am reaching here! lol

i think they may have capture these best between 3rd through 5.5gens
Why is it dumb? Because drag cars are using automatics now and GT class drivers? The main advantage of a manual is that its faster and the fact its a more pure driving experience. The only advantage of a manual now is its fun to drive. Its not faster anymore and with most drivers? probably you included. The manual is slower. Have you ever noticed when you race that every time you shift the A/T gains ground? The average gear box is slow as hell and the throw is so far. Its not faster anymore thats a fact. Lol if Techtronic or pddle shifters are good enough for professional GT class drivers than it sure as hell would make you a faster driver. Im tired of hearing A/T are slower. Its ignorant to just about every kind of racing organization in the entire world switching to A/T.
As I said before don't confuse transmissions here. Tiptronic transmissions are straight up automatics and have relatively nothing in common with the sequential gearboxes GT drivers use. The Maxima will never get one of those.
Back on topic; I think the most realistic improvement we can hope for is a performance (mainly aesthetics and suspension) package for the SE. Basically what the SER package did for the Altima.
You're right but there needs to be some separation between SE to GLE. You gave me an idea, how about an option for two different engines, 3.5 for the base model and 3.7 for the enthusiasts L-SE (Limited SE)? If Maximas are indeed 4DSC then go back to way it was, at least for the SE Model! Other models whatever!
I know at least from 6 gen has self folding mirrors, not sure about the memory adjust steering wheel mirror and seat though.
If it has the Drivers Preferred Package it does. Heated, power folding mirrors, seat and steering wheel exit and seat and steering wheel memory and heated steering wheel.
Isn't the 7thgen already come in hybrid??? I'm sure I've seen them. Nissan could either build cars that people want or build cars that they feel is better. If they stop make manual cars it's unfortunate to say my car is the last nissan I'll ever buy.
My views on an experience driver is strong because with all the "automatic" this automatic that people aren't really learning how to drive a car, meaning how to balance a clutch, gear down, change gears, and all the other things that teaches you timing and co-ordination.
Like how fun would it be if every car was automatic

They already have hybrid in Canada and it just looks weird when I see it. Like I mean I know it has more power than my 6thgen but I just can't take them serious when there's a Hybrid emblem on the trunk.
Just makes me feel like the only reason they created that car is to save money on gave by making it fuel efficent

Nissan seemed like they have moved on like other Japanese car makers, making the Maxima the Luxury flagship car. They need to rethink the idea of 4DSC and make the Maxima what it was before making the switch....

my invention
.....seriously
I dont think I myself could make a prototype but i know the technology exists already
I would just be the first person to use things differently .
and I dont trust\cant afford all those "patent" companies

You need to read what I've posted in this thread regarding the advantages of a MT and how drag racing doesn't apply (to me anyway). Then you can make your comments. There's no reason to go over how much more efficient a manual is over an automatic... again. The statement was dumb because a dyno proves the advantages.

This entire debate ignores the fact that the maxima is now Nissan's full size sedan, and people are not buying it to drag and autocross with, making the debate pointless anyways. The fact that you own an altima about sums up where Nissan will be going with the Maxima platform.
That being said my 370z and my Maxima are manuals, its just funner to drive than the auto...
Unless Nissan come with some incredible design with the next gen maxima, like rwd or awd with a lot more power and a stepping up in the over all quality & technology, I dont think I will buy another one. My next car is going to be an M5, a 4 door sedan sports car, that is what I'd like to see from Nissan, something in the line but for less money. Imagine a V8 maxima, with rwd or awd in the 50-60K range, but that wont happend soon.
Lol @ wilmetto. You couldn't of said it better. I was driving beside this mercedez SUV and he had a blind spot indicator alert thing on the mirror which was kinda cool and very usefel. Come on nissan read this thread and see what the enthusiast likes...
Every comment you have made in this thread ignores major trends and developments which have taken place in the last 10 years. Plenty of cars which have a similar price to a new maxima have newer style automatic transmissions, not the old triptronic junk. As for a Nissan tranny that could possibly be adapted to fit the next generation Maxima, you would be looking at the auto from the 370z or the G. Currently while stock the auto tranny on these cars out performs the 6 speed, as several people have mentioned.

I had a hard time finding one near me when I was looking. It's part of the reason I ended up buying my 6MT SER and I couldn't be happier. I HATE slush boxes and haven't owned one since 97. Driving roads like the Dragon would still be cool with a power robbing slush box but so much more fun with a MT. Say what you want about which is quicker but practically every proper sports car is still available with 3 pedals. If the government has its way we'll all be driving event less "fuel efficient" CVTs anyway.
I'd like to see the new Max go on a diet and lose some bulk. It's never going to happen thanks to the Altima but is another reason I bought my SER. One thing I'd like to see is an AWD option but fitting it in far enough under the G37x price tag makes that unlikely.

Only care if they bring back manual. Highly doubt they will do that, as it makes no sense financially wise. Expecting a power increase, maybe in the 300-320HP range. We might see a hybrid, but that's highly unlikely.
No way they're doing AWD or RWD.

Anyway......
The soul of the Maxima is dead and gone and has been for over a decade. When the 3rd gen came out, it set a new standard for Japanese performance with 4 doors. I think they should do away with the Maxima altogether since we have the G37 on the market.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen on the org. Your opinion is no where near the truth.

I agree and disagree. I agree that maxima's are slowly dying and if they stop making the things we all love they might as well let it fade off into the mist. On the other hand maxima's are always the underdogs so when we as enthusiast transform these grocery getters, grandparents cars and over sized cars into sports cars it's a great thing. Besides, if they got rid of "maximas" then the org will no longer be...

Think about it though, why in the hell did they make the 7th Gen to be classed along side the G class cars? Who are the people who bought the G when it first hit the market? Mostly older folks. I personally think Nissan is looking to kill the Maxima off and it's a matter of time. Nissan is making a lot of cornball decisions with this car and that's why I didn't get another one.
That I can agree with. I fell in love with my maxima the first time I drove it and even more since I modified it to compete with cars in its class and a little higher. If nissan continues along this path this will be my last maxima. Like I like the 7thgens but hate that they don't come in stick and that CVT.

is that? I hope it's not a maxima
