2002 Maxima - $1000 Customer Rebate

This just in from Nissan:
$1,000 Rebate on all new 2002 Nissan Maxima.
Customer Rebate: Customers must take delivery by 1/31/02. Please read for important information. :

Customer Rebate: Customers must take delivery of this vehicle prior to the expiration date to be eligible for this manufacturer rebate. This rebate may not be available on special factory orders or used in conjunction with special NMAC financing or leasing programs. Other special financing programs may be available. Please ask your local Nissan Dealer for details.

They made the Altima so good, that Maxima sales are hurting. People are not willing to pay $2,000 extra for Maxima w/ 15 extra ponies.

Boy, I am SOOOOOOO tempted to trade my 1999 SE for a 2002 6-speed with HLSD. If only they made a body kit for the 2K2...

I guess you can't get the 0.9% financing then? In any case, where can I get more info on this rebate?

how is it not gonna be 2k for 2k2?

C'mon now, coming back from the dealership today, the salesfolk are not even trying to push the Maxima. They try to say buy an Altima, why? Margin. Maximas abound as usual, over 70 or so on the lot. $1000 rebate is too small unless you do a GXE for under 20k. Wait until the summer when they can't give the cars away. Nah, looks don't matter.

I bought my 99 Se from 'em. Infact we bought 4 cars in 1.5 years from em. I live in Charlotte and drive there to pick up my car. But now they suck.

I called Nissan Customer Service (800-NISSAN1) to find out about this rebate announcement, but the representative said they knew nothing about it; Edmunds.com doesn't list it, either...is the $1000 rebate for real?

Yes, this is for real. The rep on 800-NISSAN-1 did confirm this.
The only other place online is:
carsdirect.com

Thanks...I saw the carsdirect.com listing of the $1000 rebate, too, but I wonder how reliable they are...their 2002 SE HLSD selling price, for example, is the same as MSRP, yet the car is available elsewhere at near-invoice prices. It's also odd that other online sources don't list the rebate (yet).

I work for Nissan and the rebate is $1,000 dollars OR NMAC APR, which is 3.9% for credit tiers 1 and 2 and tier 3 is 5.9%. Thats good I got my '02 last 2 weeks when it was $500 and the 3.9% NMAC APR.

So you paid $500 below invoice? Is that invoice w/ advertising fees or without?

I get killer deals on Nissan's. I paid $27,802 for a 2002 SE with navi and every option except for merdian, which I think is worthless here in southern cali. The deal I got was a $500 rebate which you use for a down payment and the 3.9% APR. Right now, Nissan has a $1,000 or the special interest rate of 3.9% to 5.9%. The only trick is, now you have to pick one or the other, you can't have both things. I know most dealerships will sell there maximas and other cars for $300-500 over invoice, which is still an awesome deal.

My car is on order and supposed to be in sometime February. Think the rebate will be extended or increased past January? I know Ford just announced some $2,500 rebates, and GM has $2,002???
