Ohio Law is 50% front and no limits in back. I have 38% front and 18% back. I was recently pulled over for speed by the Highway Patrol and he quickly questioned the tint. I told him the fronts were at 50%. He said it seemed darker than 50% but that he really doesn't care about tints, just wanted to warn me that they looked too dark and other officers could test them and issue me a citation.

Register out of the state you live in.

At the worst you'll get a ticket, but it'll be dismissed in court.

Game. Set. Match.

in nj you can tint only the back windows and it can be anything you want. both my cars have 5 percent all around except windshield and cops never pulled me over for just tints but there are some **** towns that i might roll my window down just to play safe. + both my maxima and tsx are modified under the hood + body kits both have carbon fiber hoods a/m rims and both are lowered and my acura has a 2 tone paint job which is very very flashy but cops dont pull me over just cause my car is souped up so i dont think you would have to worry. ask other people who live in your town about how the cops are if u dont kknow how they are :P

How do states handle out of town guests?
I live in sc close to the nc border and work in charlotte nc.
SC allows 27 or 28 while NC is at 35. During NC'S state inspection, they will find out that your tint is too dark and you won't pass inspection. I don't have an inspection in sc.
I plan on getting SC compliant tint, but will be driving a lot in nc.
I am going to do more research on this before I pull the trigger.

Also, I did go to a tint place who tested my stock driver side window. I forgot what the reading was, but it was either 70 or 80 on the plain glass. I may end up with 35 if I use the 50 tint, or I may end up with 27 if I use the 35 tint. Gotta keep that in mind.

where do you live at in jersey? in trenton, they wont even pull you over for busted taillights, busted windshield, anything really. theyre more worried about drug deals and murders. but then you drive one town over to bordentown and theyre the most **** small town cops over. they get you for ANYTHING. even addressing the next question, the one above this post, those ****bag cops will pull someone over from NY with tints, AND give them a ticket for it. like WTF???

I had 5% all around on my Maxima and 3% Luminar All around on my 240SX w/ the windshield tinted 55% Reflective. It was BLACK, I had people ask me if I had black vinyl on the windows.

Anyway, I did eventually get pulled over for just the tint. And I have been pulled over for it twice. Although the second time wasnt just for tint.

Many states have tint listed as a secondary offense, meaning they arent allowed to pull you over solely for that reason.

Check the laws!

Also dark tint on a white car is a hell of alot easier to spot then dark tint on a dark car

im like 20 minutes from trenton im in central jersey the only towns i would roll my windows down in is metuchen, east brunswick and i dont know how other towns are but i know that carteret, woodbridge, edison, colonia cops do nothing it seems i never get a issue and if they pull me over they would let me go but metuchen when they pull u over most likely getting a ticket smh i hate those cops

The tint law is enforced in the state that the car is registered. So if the car is registered in SC, the NC police shouldn't bother you if the tint is darker than the NC tint limit.

The tint laws here are 35 front and whatever you want for rear windows/windshield. But I cant do 35/20 it just wouldn't look good so I did 20 all around. Been pulled over twice but never mentioned the tint or asked for certificate.

I actually had been pulled over about 2 weeks ago i have 20% all around and i live in NY the cop wrote me 5 tickets for the tints but the dumbass cop wrote them all for the front windshield. The ticket description was front windshield non transparent. Took a picture of my front windshield gave it to my lawyer, tickets dismissed.
