2000 Nissan Cefiro ECU replacement

Hi, I'm the owner of a 2000 Nissan Cefiro, a japanese model of Nissan, and recently i carried my car to the shop because the charging system seemed to have been going bad (my alternator light came on and everything else, lights inside the car, headlights etc, was dimming). So i carried my car to the shop and they told me that my alternator was not good anymore and that i also needed to change one of my ignition coils. Hence i bought a new alternator and 6 brand new ignition coils for it. The alternator that they took out had 130 amperage output and the new one was 160 amps. So they went ahead and put in all of the parts and then started the car; the car started but then shortly afterwards stopped running. a few days later the mechanic told me that my car's computer is gone. I am very confused right now as to how this happened but more importantly I'm trying to find a replacement Ecu for my car. Since its a japanese car im having a hard time finding the particular ecu i need for my car. they gave me my chasis number ( A33064428 ) and told me to use that to find a replacement, please can someone help me ?

Highly doubt a higher rated alternator is to blame for the ECU failure. Press the mechanic to why he concluded the ECU is dead. Seems like BS.

^ What L36 said. Unless the mechainic did something wrong I'ver never seen this happen, at least no from a alt install.

Ok i found out more information today concerning my car. Apparently my ECU is not gone, but the mechanic says that he thinks my computer needs to be replaced because my ignition coils are burning out. He thinks that the computer is burning out my ignition coils. I don't know if he's right or not but thats what he said. He said that if he put a replacement coil in, it would only burn out again, so he's concluding that i should change my computer, as he thinks thats the source of the problem. Is this making sense? What do you guys think? Could it really be my car's computer? or some poor wiring somewhere? or even faulty ignition coils? I don't know, HELP!

Stock ignition coil failure is common on the A33. There is a revised part number that has a much lower failure rate than the ones that come with the car.
