Bus comes out scratchless , the sentras hood is all bent up right headlight gone, bumper gone... grille gone...
damages .. prob 2000

we didnt even have speed.
Damn What a way to start the new year.

hehe that's funny. It was true though, initially when ABS came out it actually caused accidents but that's because drivers would try to pump the brakes on an ABS system.

Reminds me of when Windows first came out. There was a camp of people who believed it was for wimps and DOS was for real men and people who could use real computers. Funny those DOS people went the way of the dodo bird. It's pretty hard to find the command prompt in Windows XP Pro.

I know what you mean. There are very few surfaces where ABS will result in longer stops. Gravel or sand perhaps. But even on ice, ABS will stop your car shorter than pumping the brakes yourself. The ABS computer pumps the brakes like 20 times a second, you can do it maybe 1 time every 2 seconds..maybe.

True ABS will stop you car faster in most conditions. It's probably the best safty feature on todays cars. However, the people who use them shoud be trained on how to use them correctly.

STOMP AND STEER Thats how the police academy teaches you how to drive a squad car. Take full advantage of the cars ability to accelerate and stop. Thats how they get the bad guys!!

i'll admit that ABS helped a great deal on my 95 SE but after driving my 97 SE in the snow w/o it i feel more confident and my hand is always steady and ready for the ebrake.

exact same thing happened today to my dad in Markham this morning, he tired to stop & skidded right thru an intersection because of black ice that he didn't see. & I almost crashed into a curb turning a normal right turn @10km/h but it was all ice & I just understeered like crazy, good thing theres ebrake & that made my front end pointing @ the right direction again.

Yeah, the most you can do if you start slipping on black ice is to just drive your way out of an accident. If you slam on your brakes it won't help one bid. I slid around a bit today but I changed the direction of my car to avoid running hitting the car in front of me.

I wasn't even going 5 mph when this happened.

Completely sucks! Sorry, I know how accidents can ruin your week, month, and sometimes years. Glad you're okay ( and your dad )and your Maxima wasn't involved. Too bad for the Sentra ...

All this talk about accdents.

I'm glad I have a beater car, my Maxima has not seen snow or salt this winter yet. Think it's time to clean the snow off the car cover ... starting to build up.
