Has anyone used synthetic oil filters like the one from Puralator? Are they really designed for 10k miles or just an excuse to charge more money ($12)?
I use synthetic oil and don't change my oil until 10k miles. I normally use regular high quality oil filters, but would be interested in synthetic type if worth the money.

I've been using Mobil 1 filters for many years with several cars i've owned in the past with extended drain intervals with synthetic oils. Never had any issues with them.

Purolator PureONE or Mobil 1 is the way to go.

I don't think I could ever do even 5k on one oil change. I don't intend on turning this into a "oil change interval" thread, but all the debunking that claims no need for 3k mile oil changes miss the fundamental point of an oil change. I refuse to believe the difference in dirt build up is negligible from 3k and 10k and with oil being such a core aspect of block functionality, I am more than content with the peace of mind that comes with 3k mile changes.

I had always gotten fram filters and syn oil at walmart until one time my mom asked if I needed anything from kmart before she came to visit the grand kids. I told her the oil and a filter. She wound up getting a purolator pure1 filter and I have to say the filter gave me a noticeable improvement on cold starts. I guess i am experiencing the benefits of an antidrainback valve. No more valve noise in the first few seconds of start up. I am a new customer to purolators filters.
