Help please.....
Does anyone know where I can find the new price of a 1985, I need the prices of the SE, GL and wagon.
I'm dealing with a ins company and the cars they have for market value are a 85 GL with a rear wiper(?????) with a base line adjustment of -$380 the vin says U11 but from any I have ever seen only the wagon came with a rear wiper, let me know if I'm wrong, the price they have listed is $1,450 with 229,523 miles
the other one says 86 Gl no vin, 140,000 miles -$678 for mileage (198,000 on mine) with no base line adjustment.
just trying not to get f88k by Fred Loya ins......
if anyone has tips for dealing with this company please let me know
thanks

Why do you need a new price? Insurers use comps from your region. So, if there are other models in your area that sold for X amount that is the value of yours. At least that is what they assume.
Your best bet is to go and find the kelly blue book retail price based on mileage, condition, etc. A new model price when it was first sold tells you nothing of the current value.

Like was said above, the "new" price is not going to do anything for you. I presume you are dealing with the total loss of your Maxima. Most insurance companies use comparables in the area you live in. I don't know what dollar amount you are seeking, but a rear wiper is not going to increase the value significantly on a 27 year old vehicle (or any vehicle for that matter)... no matter how good the condition it was in. Check KBB, NADA, and search online for any similar vehicles in your area.

so far I have them up to $1330 with a $399 buy back, talked to them today and since they can't go to a web site that I sent him a link for I had to pull it up on my phone take a screen shot and send that to him, he said he was having issues opening it so I offered to walk him though opening a jpeg image...... but there is a 86 selling for $3400, so they were like well thats more then likely the price getting a loan from them and it would be lower if you were to pay cash, so why on the phone with them I had my boss call and see what they would take in cash and that is $3200. why all that was going on they were looking up the ad and said due to the mileage there would be a $1000 and $380 for shape.......
dealing with this company is such a pain, like called today left a message, called a 2nd time later in the day didn't answer, call the main number asked to talk to a sup. spent some time on hold, one comes on the line says that the guy I deal with has left for the day already, tell him I need this taken care of it's been a month already, and mentioned I will be making a complaint with the TX ins. board..... not even 10 min later guy calls me, and I'm like really your company told me you left for the day, did they lie to me again??
sorry for the rant and thanks again, this can be deleted, or added to my thread in the 2nd gen area....
I didn't read you post in detail, but got the jist of it. Best bet is to get the comps you can find and take it to the insurance then negotiate. That's all you can do.
New car price doesn't do **** for your in your situation.

yea thats what I did for the most part, the new price was to prove that a SE is worth a bit more then the GL and Wagon i.e. the Wagon cost $1000 more new but the price now of a SE is more then a Wagon or a GL, the one SE I could find for sale has a $5999 price tag but it is a 87 and they "can only use one year newer or older" in which I was like hahahahaha so you can use a car thats not the same model code but not a car with the same model code thats 2 year apart....... anyways still waiting to hear back from them to see how much they change it....
Good luck dealing with the insurance company. They will do what they want to do and anything you say is just wasting your breath.
The way insurance companies work, a car is totaled when the repair cost exceeds 75% of the current value. When my 94 Max was hit back in 2008, the repair estimate was something like $3425. What really made me mad was that the repair was something like $25 over the 75% and the insurance company wouldn't budge. They would only give me $1750 because they said the only car close to mine was a beat-up piece of garbage for sale in some remote little town in Oklahoma. I could find several cars in Oklahoma City where the insurance company's claim office was and more in Dallas by me, but the insurance company claimed they couldn't find the ads I was talking about or had some lame excuse why the car didn't apply to me.
I was dealing with Farmers Insurance. A year later (?), another org member (Scottwax - 03 Max) got hit and his car was totaled. He got the same run around from Nationwide.
