WHEEL LOCKS - sleeve/bearing type?

Hey all - I've searched & searched & cannot find specifics on this.

Someone mentioned in a couple different threads that there's "a company" that makes wheel locks of a different breed out there.

These locking lug nuts differ from the normal indented-key type like "McGard's" or "Gorilla's" in that in addition to the key inset pattern, they also have a sleeve or "cylinder" on the outside perimeter of the locking lug that "spins" on bearings, independently of the center.

The goal/theory on this: it prevents the common method of defeating standard wheel locks - hammering a standard socket on over the locking lug & simply removing it with a ratchet.

-And the $64,000 question. . .

Do they exist? If so, what's the name of the company that makes them?

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks.

Ok, here's all I've found so far - It's the right concept, but I'm not sure this is what I had in mind, as this product seems to only go "over" the existing lug-nut, & seems made largely out of plastic - but anyway. . .

Anybody have any experience w/ these? Any other companies?

wheel locks are wheel locks.....just dont make the common mistake of leaving the "lock keys" in your trunk.....my friend had 2 wheel locks on each rim.....but they still managed to tax his rims but breaking into the trunk

Thanks - I guess I'm just looking for a "better mousetrap." I've read all these posts of people saying how easy it is to just pound a socket over conventional lug-locks & it gets me wondering - what's the point of spending the $ on locks anyway?

(I know, I know - it's not about theft prevention, it's about theft deterence, blah, blah, blah - nobody needs to educate me on that concept)

I just want my $ to go toward the BEST theft deterent available, that's all. . .

Btw, I emailed the company @ the link I posted & they responded:

>snip<
"...the products we have will not fit your car. I would suggest
you call gorilla products at 800-262-6267. They can help you.

Toad Auto.com"
>snip<

-Not sure if that means they don't stock Nissan compatible products or Eurolock doesn't make a Nissan compatible lock. . .

I replied to find out - will let you all know.

Euro-locks are available for the Maxima

Man, looks like I'm the only one keepin' this dead fish of a thread alive. . .

Is no one interested in wheel theft deterrence?

Got a reply from www.toadauto.com:

>snip<
"Euro lock makes one size to fit 17 or 19 mm studs. They will
fit nissan but, we are out of stock right now.

Toad Auto.com"
>snip<

So apparently, it's a universal fit for those two sizes. Anyone know whether we have a 17mm or 19mm stud? I've heard of the 4th Gen. studs being called 12 x 1.25, but not by a metric measurement. . .

"Gorilla Guard" Wheel Locks

Ok, after more than a little digging, I found exactly what I was looking for:

"Gorilla Guard" Wheel Locks - part #61621 (For 4th Gen. Maximas)

This particular model is not the garden-variety "defeatable with a hammered-on socket" type of lock!

Check them out @ www.gorilla-auto.com

Download only the Second part of the .PDF (Adobe Acrobat file) product catalog file & you'll find them on "page 28."
