Not too bad, of course I'd like to see the final design. From the side I think the roof is a little TOO sporty to make it a practical 4 seater, but as this is just the concept, this is a moot point until we see the actual design. Overall though, definitely a cool concept, I'd love for this burnt orange color to be an actual choice for the 8th gen Max!!

I'm with you, and honestly it was my plan all along....Nissan unveiling this just pushed the timetable up a lil bit.

I'll wait to see the production model...but'll it'll be cool to drive the next generation of Maxima...

A production version of Nissan’s next Maxima will likely debut at the New York Auto Show in April. Look for it to wear much of the Sport Sedan Concept's clothes when it does.

can't wait to see the production version!!!

HAHAHA, okay, I give you the Internet award for tolerance lol!

I love my SV man! Like literally everything about it. The seats are to die for, the ride is silk smooth, and it has gobs and gobs of power. The last 1400 miles have seen me checking my speed, only to realize I'm going 10-15mph faster than I thought I was! The styling is great too....it's cool when I pull up at the gas station and Lexus and Benz owners are checking out my car.

I haven't really pushed it yet, I've been behaving during the break-in period, but this is the first car I've owned that will push me back into the seat if I accelerate hard enough.

stix_clgi the 7th gens got the best seats in the house they hug you like Berta from two and a half men. What trips me out is alot of people complain about the CVT but for the V6 with the 290 it's a good match and extremely smooth!

Only reason I didn't get one is because most people in my family are over 6ft3 and I got the extra stretch room in 6th gen back there.

When you sit on those seats in the 7th gen it feels like your sitting on this

That description of the 7th gen seats is perfect lol!!! Yeah, I'm not sure why some people don't like the CVT, I asked a question in another thread, but no one answered. To each his own honestly....290 + CVT =.

Back on point with the thread, I hope Nissan makes more realistic changes to the 2015 (not RWD or a twin-turbo V8 pushing 471hp), like streamlining the options, i.e. radio/nav/XM. It's crazy that there's like 4 different choices: amber scree, color screen w/o nav w/bluetooth audio, color screen w/nav w/bluetooth, color screen w/o nav w/o bluetooth w/XM lol....

stix_clgi From the way everything looks the 8th gen is gonna have everybody flying out of their seats the new design is commendable. I have a feeling you might end up upgrading to that one. With the 8th gen its gonna be alot wider length is about the same. So Berta from two and a half men should fit in there perfectly without sacrificing space comfort. The 7th gen is a fast n the furious Hollywood mobile that thing belongs in the movies.

Honestly my plan was to upgrade in a year, depending on interests rates and what not...I didn't even know Nissan was revealing a "sports sedan" concept when I bought my car....seeing the new concept is making me even more excited about the 2015-2016 than I already was!

I watched the 8 min reveal clip, I need to read more about it. Either way, I can imagine the production Max based off of this concept. I'm thinking most of the creases will be less pronounced, although I hope they keep the floating roof and glassed out "B" pillar. Boosting the engine output while keeping the car close to the same weight sounds like a WHOLE lotta fun!!

I'll be happy if Berta can fit in the car...no one in my family is that big...

stix_clgi You sound like a smart guy I'm just in my 20s but to hear you mention interest rates conveys intelligence. The key factor is the price of the 8th gen. With the recession and stuff more consumers are looking for lower prices. A big drawback of the 7th gen was costs Not for me but for those looking for a more affordable price range. And my uncles/dad super tall I lucked out at 5ft10 150 pounds but I like big cabin feel. We have a new 535i nice car but a bit too small for me.

And no telling what Nissan has planned for the 8th gen Maxima buy one get a Parrot free.

Lol well thanks, I'm pushing 30, it's just experience. Anyone who's bought a car in the last 4 years understands how much interests rates have changed and how heavily they influence the car buying experience. I got a great rate through Navy Federal, and then Nissan of Bowie, MD gave me an incredible deal!

That said, Nissan's flagship isn't positioned to be a Hyundai Sonata competitor....it's $32-42k car. It's always been priced this way I think (if you include inflation over the past few years). There are definitely great deals out there, but I wouldn't expect to pay $22k for a brand new Max SV, if you know what I mean. I think Nissan should keep the 8th gen pricing similar to the 7th gen., especially if they continue to offer all of those rebates and incentives.

I've never ridden in a 535i, I'm assuming it's close in size to a Mercedes E class? If so, I'd think it would be big enough lol. You must like Grand Canyon-like space lol! Reminds me of a kid I knew in high school. 5'4" 120lbs...drove a stinkin' '96 Caprice Classic.....

stix_clgi pushing 30? i'm 27 and Navy Federal credit union you military? I'm in DAP process of leaving in the Air Force as an officer to fly small world dude no wonder you know you're interest rates and inflatable inflation stuff.

You're on point about the price thing If Maxima price is a question an Altima with a V6 might be better for some people. When the dealership had my car for a week they gave me a loaner Altima 2.5S I stepped on the gas it sound like bees. I pulled over because I thought it was bees in the motor.

The new 535i oh that thing out there in the garage it's nice they should have called it the BMW grand canyon and gave it some extra width like Nissan's doing the 8th gen 75inch and I would get in there more often. I bumped my knees getting in there the other day on the dash. Should have sued BMW and got a 760i for a settlement on the side of my 6th gen.

A Caprice????? oh nawww man that's tooo hood they look like Mooses flying down the street.

i'm talking big like 7 series big Lexus LS460 big

I will take both

I liked the four door concept revealed this week, and would definitely buy something like it, specially if it is indeed a Maxima. Hope they confirm it is the Maxima in the next new York auto show.

And would love it if Nissan actually builds the Nismo IDX too. Definitely these two concepts I would gladly fit in my garage.

Respect bro...I'm a former military dependant....Mom did 7 years, Dad did 24. Got my memberships to USAA, Andrews FCU, and Navy Fed before I lost my military benefits.

My I-4 Camry sounded like 30 squirrels in an argument...I knew I needed a V-6 within a week of owning the car lol

The Beamers definitely look nice, I've driven in an older 735i...great car, smooth ride....way out of my price range.

Let's just say I went to a hood school, no choice with the military and MD school zones. If you move to Maryland, leave the bulk of PG county schools alone lol. Caprices, Impalas (old and newer), a few Lexus', and Neo Geo's were the norm.

The 8th gen is growing on me. The more I look at it the more I like it...I just want it to be a little less aggressive. Don't want to look like Hot Wheels driving down the street. Nissan's flagship should still retain some maturity, even in an attempt to be a 4DSC...

there is a rumor of a potential NISMO model- hopefully that means 6spd, DCT or at the very least a quick shifting auto like the Z

Heh...well I say wait and see, you never know. It's the same old to people who've owned Maxima's, but Nissan may garner a whole new crop of owners.

I'm jus' sayin', ya never know lol. Guys like me couldn't afford the Maxima's when we wanted to get them, and things turned around and we could...didn't really matter if the Max had been using the same engine for however many years.

And I'd trade up to get a better tech package than what's currently offered...

Looks very nice. I just don't like the grille. The grille says Murano/Rogue all over. Nissan needs to come up with a unique grille design for the production model

I imagine that body-color V mod will be a first mod for many 8th gen owners.

I'm basically impatient, in the market for a new car, and want to know what the actual 2015 Max is going to look like!

I don't work at Nissan, but thinking somewhat logically about things leads me to believe the situation may be this:

The 7th gen is now tied with the third gen for longest-running of any Maxima (6 model years). Competition (especially technology) is overtaking the Maxima, and Nissan REALLY wants to get the 8th gen on the market.

There is a long lead time between the startup of the assembly line and the release of a new generation. For instance, 2009 7th gen Maximas began coming down the Smyrna assembly line (interleaved with 2008 6th gens, of course) in January of 2008. I watched them coming down the line in February of 2008, and saw many being stored on the back lot. But it was June 26th of 2008 before dealers were allowed to sell them.

I think Nissan planned all along to release their newly redesigned CVT in the new Altima in order to get lots of testing and road miles done for them by Altima owners, then put this well-tested CVT in the new 8th gen Maxima, which was to be released in spring of 2014 as the 2015 model year.

But then came a problem. The new CVT (which is much-improved over the 7th gen Maxima 'slow-off-the-line' CVT) has had some serious problems in the Altima. Many have had to be replaced. Nissan does not want to release the 8th gen Maxima with the now-antiquated 7th gen CVT, nor does it want to release the 8th gen Maxima with a problem-prone CVT. So Nissan is now in a 'wait-state.'

If the CVT problems can be pinpointed and fixed within the next three or four months, Nissan will release the 8th gen Maxima this fall as the 2015 Maxima. If, however, Nissan cannot get this new CVT situation resolved by around April or May, the 8th gen Maxima will be pushed into spring 2015 and released as the 2016 model year.

Yes, this is conjecture. But it is based on my having owned nothing but Maximas since Oct 1984, and I owned Datsuns (a Nissan product) for many years before that, having watched Datsuns coming down the assembly line in Japan over fifty years ago.
