LED dome light
LED dome light
I noticed on my winter car when putting an LED bulb in the dome light it stays on even with the doors closed. Put the halogen back in and works the way it should light on when doors open light off when doors closed. Anyone ever have this issue or know the fix for it? I tried using 2 different LED's and still had the same thing happen?
If you are talking about the LED being very dimly lit. Mine have done it since i installed them in 2008 and caused no issues. I always assumed that it was a small voltage leakage from the battery saver circuit. Not enough to make a regular light bulb do anything but just enough to light up an LED.
It does not happen in my 4th gen, but I learned that newer cars have a thingy that makes the dome light slowly dim when you close the door. With a standard halogen bulb it draws enough power to drain that thingy and turn off completely; while LEDs don't drain enough power to use up that left over electricity completely so it keeps going.
Not too sure if it is true, but that is what I dug up while doing research a while ago.
