RSB and winter

I have a 2k1 with H&R, RSB and winter tires. I find the back end swings out even with the winter tires on sorta slippery roads in corners. I might consider uninstalling the RSB before winter next time. Anyone else find this same problem (if you want to call it that)? Is the RSB really worth having on if you lower your car?

I've got a question for you. Does the back end swing out in the dry, too? I want that to happen with my Max when I lift off the gas in a corner. I'm totally stock and can do it in the wet, but that's it. I'm also not working now, so I want to make sure I'm paying for exactly what I want.

What kind of RSB do you have? I have Stillen and do not experience that problem. Try readjusting your RSB.

It makes easier to swing the back in the dry, but doing this is not the fastest way through the corner. Fun, though

Definitly worth having on a lowered car. I've got the same setup you do, only on a 4th gen and do not have any issues with it in the snow. I do drive it pretty conservative when the roads are slick, so maybe I'm not pushing enough for the *** to wiggle thru corners.

I have the stillen rsb on my 2k1. It is mounted directly underneath the axel. The back is planted very flat to the road for sure! How will the handling characteristics change if I move it a lil forward or lil back?

I think if you move it forward (towards the front of the car), the rear end will become stiffer.

call addoc or wherever you got it from... a lot of people get wrong parts or missing instructions with the addco

During this snow storm I had a unique experience with the Max. I had the Maxima at the shop installing the Navigation system, pics will be up tonight. Anyway it started snowing and my car was done at 3pm. I had another car at the shop, a 1997 Lincoln Town Car and I left it there to drive the Maxima home. I met my mom at home and her 1990 Mercedes 300E was all over the road, she slid getting into the driveway. Anyway, we drove back to the shop, by now there was atleast 1 inch on the ground, and I was flying...I was going 60 mph when everyone else was going 20. I was taking sharp turns, I had complete traction. I got to the shop and I let my mom drive the Max while I took the Lincoln, I am a better driver and letting her drive a RWD boat in the snow is not a good idea. Anyway, I could not keep up with her...I was skidding all over the place and she never missed a beat. When I got home I asked her why she drove so fast, she said it was like it wasn't snowing. Here are my suspension mods:

Stillen RSB
Stillen FSTB
KYB AGX
Ground Control Coils
I also had the stock GLE rims instead of my 17's.

Last year I had no suspension work done and the Max was all over the road...

I'm not sure how the bar is adjustable, so maybe this is what AndyXXL means. (And if Stillen doesn't include this kind of info with their RSB, they should)

If you make the pivot points farther away from each other, you will make the bar less stiff. If you move them closer together, the bar will become stiffer. This is simply because of the amount of leverage you have on the bar. Here's kind of an extreme diagram as if it were the RSB viewed from the side:

o----o short arm length: little leverage, therefore very stiff

o--------------------------o long arm length: lots of leverage, therefore not very stiff

Too bad we do not have snow around here. With a stock setup, in the rain, I have a hard time getting the back end to swing out. In the dry, I can slide sideways, but the back end still does not swing out. I may get a RSB soon.

When i had my Addco RSB on, i never had problems in the snow.

I recently sold my RSB and i havent noticed a dramatic difference in handling. The rear end feels more independent now & responds better to bumps. The rear def doesnt stay as flat through turns anymore but either way, i still am able to cruise through them. Some people say that adding the RSB eliminates that floaty feel, i never had that problem.

Thanks.

I also wanted to mention, since i removed the RSB, I have added 300ZX rims 16x7.5, My steering response is more neutral rather then having more oversteer or understeer (which ever you may have).
