deal of the century on Ebay

I have to brag a bit on the best ebay deal ive ever gotten….and have one question. Just picked up these CATTMAN headers on ebay for $80!

Not sure about the exact car that they fit (he states Altima but Im not positive that’s correct).

Regardless these are clearly cattman….or possibly hotshot but I dont think so. They look like Gen2….what do you guys think?

Any idea what brand? I've got the cheap eBay headers and they don't look anything like them.

You got shorties? These look like ebay headers but not the shorty kind.

Yup....your right. Here they are on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-02-06-NI...986e94&vxp=mtr

And here are the ones that I have... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VQ35DE-V6-Ex...ad0c1e&vxp=mtr

Good news is Ive never seen anyone compare these two headers before. Guess Ill line them up side by side and give the forum some additional knowledge.

schmellyfart beat you to it by using them but you'd be helpful if you compared shorties to longer tubes. http://forums.maxima.org/all-motor/6...nockoff-3.html

What made you think they were "clearly" Cattman? When I looked at them, I could clearly tell they were not.

At $220 shipped for new, $80 used is right on point. Enjoy.

Lol. I have no idea. Brain fart I guess.

Totally got that mixed up....and the bad thing is I used to have a set of gen3 Cattman headers in the past for my 4th gen. :/

Can you explain? I'm lost on what your asking/implying.

I purchased these headers last night thinking they were Cattman from some random guy on eBay. Still am going to use them...it's just not as good of a deal as I thought.

What am I doing wrong and why are you upset?

You said you had better headers and got rid of them. I was going to ask why and how but at this point it doesn't matter. What matters is that you bought headers for really cheap and all I care about at this point is seeing them installed on your car!

Two Ebay Header comparison

Alright so I have both Altima ebay headers to compare. Check out the pictures below. The main differences are the collectors where each front and rear header merge and one includes a micro resonator.

Dont flame me for qouting a Honda Forum but this is an excellent write up of the work that goes into making a merged collector: http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2787713

4 piece eBay Altima Headers (these are the used headers in my pics below - dark grey)

3 piece eBay Altima Headers (These are the new shiny headers in my pics below) Please note that the original owner of the 3 piece headers modified them to have the EGR on a later model Maxima and crushed a portion of the bend in the y-pipe for some reason. The new version of these wouldnt come with this crushed portion.

Y-Pipe (notice the extra length on the 4 piece version because the merge collector on the header is shorter):

Inside collector - 3 piece (it is hard to tell from this photo but the 3 individual tubes come to a point inside the collector as they have all been cut at an angle and fit together):

4 piece test pipe (im not sure why it looks like this other than to "simulate" a cat):

Inside the y pipe on the 3 piece - actually a sort of micro resonator:

I'd recommend you get OEM layered manifold gaskets.

What year & model Altima do you have?

I replaced my Y with a Racingline Y pipe. As great as headers are I'd rather keep the pre cats for emissions.

02 Altima SE. I picked up actual Cattman headers and a racing line Y. Hoping emissions can pass if I swap in headers.

Any rust on the floor pans? L31 and A34 are notorious for rotted floors. I've already done both sides on mine. I have to do my fathers 07 Max soon.
