Ignition coils?

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima throwing a code. P1320 I believe. It was an ignition code. I just got the car back from Firestone. They could not figure it out.

Along with the check engine light coming on and going off for several weeks now, I've developed what feels like a miss. It runs rough and then smooths out.

Can ignition colis cause this sympton

Yes they can. Many people on Maxima.org can attest to that fact.

The P1320 code is saying that you are having problems with several coils, but doesn't tell you which ones. Your best course of action is to replace all of them. Expensive? Kind of but you gotta do it.

What ever you do, DO NOT get the ebay-6-for-a-hundred-dollars coils, unless you want to be replacing them again in 6 months. Get the Hitachi or Hanshin made coils, all others are unreliable.

rockauto.com is a good place to get them.

+1

Also do yourself a favor since you are a maxima owner. Get yourself the $50 orange code reader and keep it in your glove box.

^This.

With the car idling, pull each coilpack and listen for a change in idle speed/sound. A cylinder where there is no change in sound is a dead/weak cylinder.

If replacing coilpack(s) doesn't work, then the next likely culprit is the injector(s).

further help on p1320

Getting the code again AFTER replacing all coils with Hitachi (called dealer and found out they sell Hanshin but was ecommended to go with HItachi without research and no bad reviews/blogs). Along with the coils, spark plugs were changed and the wire to the knock sensor was reconnected (had that code too). After a few hundred miles, the p1320 code popped up again. What are the resistance levels supposed to be of the coils? What else could be the culprit?(condensor tested ok). Car is running fine EXCEPT when the rpms get over 4200...when I get spirited the transmission fails to shift properly (hesitates). normal driving and slowly creaping to 4200rpm there is NO shifting issue.

Please help someone new to the wonderful world of the Maxima.
