SS Headers

Im sure theres alot of threads covering obx headers but i was just curious from people who have installed them as to whether or not they tend to keep their luster/polished ss look or is it just a coating that eventually deteriorates?

Pretty sure the OBX don't have any type of coating and in due time, they will too fade. My Cattman Gen I's were Jet-Hot coated and even then have since faded. 120k miles and 10 years will do that. Although they also were used at the time I purchased them.

After the first week, they will look terrible. Mine were shiny the first day, then just looked burnt. And not the nice burn like burnt tip mufflers

Thats what i was afraid of Is there any way to keep the luster or shine for any length of time?
Im wondering if they really are a true stainless. NmexMAX How long did the coating last before they started looking like that? Im wondering if i coat them if they'd keep their luster for a few years or longer atleast. I was under the impression 304 ss doesnt rust.

Sure. Post some pics. Did you get stainless steel headers to begin with and who did the coating for you George and at what cost if you don't mind me asking?

It was definitely under $400.00

just give them a call and ask.

I'm going back this year to refinish and powder coat the OEM rims if they can....

If the headers are stainless they will blue and violet like an exhaust tip. Looks pretty good...or it did on my IS300 back in the day. After installing you want to wipe them down with Windex though or all your fingerprints will permanently burn in.

For those of you who go the ceramic coating route....The high luster chrome looking finish has to be cleaned periodically in order to maintain it's high luster appeal....and the barrier temperature for the high luster is much lower than the maintenance free satin finish ceramic coating...Most satin finishes are good up to 2000* F or more! Polydyn did about three sets of headers for me personally.

I am wondering, if the headers in this pic here would work with any catback exhaust megan, cattman ect exhaust systems. To be exact the headers and y-pipe are a non-name brand or e-bay type and the b-pipe on back the catback exhaust is cattman or megan exhaust. it's bolt on the question here would be would these type of exhaust systems line up and have no fitment issues.

They should...very seldom does a header system affect fitment of a catback unless it's too long or too short...

Ok, I was just asking a good question, I wasn't looking for a smart remark. I was curious of the headers that are in this pic because, I have something similar and I want an easy plug and play, I was hoping to get an expert advice with a confident answer. I don't want to order something and than I find out that was a mistake. I don't want to deal with the order and return this and try this. It is exhausting.
